<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><a href="http://ift.tt/1w2nSE5"><img alt="image" class="alignnone size-full" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1G4FBhm" title="download-1.jpg"/> </a> </p><br /><p>Security agents have uncovered a new strategy by Boko Haram to launch terror attacks as the insurgents have now resorted to the use of cows for bombings.</p><br /><p>The Federal Government yesterday said with this new strategy, Boko Haram strapped bombs to cows and herded the cows to human settlements before detonating the explosives. However, the Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, who doubles as the Coordinator of the National Information Centre (NIC),who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja, did not give details on where the insurgents had employed this terror tactic.</p><br /><p>Omeri also spoke on Monday’s attack on Damaturu by the insurgents, who launched another attack on Ashaka and Bajoga, in Gombe yesterday, raiding banks and bombing government buildings, including a police station. According to him, normalcy has since returned to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, and Konduga in Borno State, which the insurgents attacked on Monday.</p><br /><p>He said: “The situation in Yobe and Maiduguri is calm… The situation has returned to normal. “Like Maiduguri, the insurgents have resorted to other means of invading society, and that is why they now use bombs; they strap bombs around human beings.</p><br /><p>“Sometimes, they strap bombs around cows, and push them to settlements. “That is why we have been calling for more vigilance and total collaboration and cooperation among citizens. “We urge all citizens to be patient, when you are subjected to searches and checks; it is something that we have to live with.</p><br /><p>“It happens all over the world, especially when we are faced with what we have.” On the Federal Government’s renewed alliance with Russia, in a bid to buy arms after the United States, its traditional arms supplier had frustrated efforts to acquire certain categories of arms, Omeri said: “Nigeria buys arms from all over the world and we have been buying arms from the Eastern bloc for a long time.</p><br /></div>

We have gone into building of confidence. We are trying to pay our salaries – salaries of workers – because, for months, he has not paid their salaries. That is what we are doing now”.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Speaking to State House correspondents after meeting with the president, Fintri said he came to see the president, who is the leader of the country, to brief him on the situation in Adamawa in his capacity as the acting governor.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>On allegations that the president is trying to decimate the opposition by way of impeachment, he said, “Nyako is not an opposition man. He only stole the mandate of the PDP into the APC. How did the president get involved in this local issue in Adamawa? The man has stolen our money. That is the bottom line of it”.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>When he was quoted as having told reporters at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja shortly after he was sworn-in last week that he had returned PDP’s stolen mandate and whether it was the reason Nyako was removed, Fintri said, “You saw the allegations and they have been proven by the panel; so that cannot be the reason why we removed the man. There were even so many other issues that we could not bring as part of the allegations that informed his removal.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“But definitely as a PDP man that has taken over as acting governor in Adamawa State, I have to say that I brought back to my party the stolen mandate by the former governor”.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>On the allegation that members of the State House of Assembly were financially rewarded to remove Nyako from office, Fintiri responded: “Who gave the money? There must be an evidence of the person who gave the money. In this country, people are used to whatever situation that happened, it is about money. <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><p><img alt="ayo-fayose1" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-108110" height="250" src="http://ift.tt/1ekv1Xy" width="350"/>A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Ekiti Sate, Mr. Deji Ajayi, has called on the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, to disqualify a former governor of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, from taking part in Saturday’s primaries of the party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ajayi, in a petition which he also copied to President Goodluck Jonathan, threatened to head for the court to seek legal redress if action was not taken.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He said Fayose had ceased to be a member of the party having once defected to the Labour Party, adding that there was also no constitutional recommendation to the National Working Committee of the PDP for the former governor’s readmission to the party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ajayi’s letter read in part, “Sir, the subject person, Mr. Ayo Fayose, who is not a party member, has been parading himself as an aspirant on the platform of the party for some time without going through and/or fulfilling the constitutional prerequisites to becoming a member of the Party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“It may be apposite to state the facts of how Mr. Fayose, who was once a member of the party, lost his membership and has never been re-admitted to full membership of the party to confer the status of participating in the electoral process leading to the emergence of the party’s candidate.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Sir, the subject person was the Governor of Ekiti State between 2003 and 2006 when he was impeached by the State House of Assembly and went on a self-imposed exile. Upon his return, he left the party and joined the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and campaigned across the State for that party’s candidate in the 2007 gubernatorial election.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“In 2013, he did not only join the Labour Party, he was also the candidate of that Party for the Ekiti Central Senatorial seat which he lost with a wide margin to the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria. Sir, it is a notorious fact that cannot be denied that the subject person, with these antecedents lost his membership of the party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“It is conceded that the subject person has, to the general knowledge and to the personal knowledge of our client, taken the initial steps towards becoming a member of the party in line with the provision of section 8(17) of the Constitution of the party, however, no recommendation has been made to the National Working Committee for his readmission to the party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Sir, assuming without conceding that such recommendation has been made to the National Working Committee of the Party, such readmission has not been ratified by the National Executive Committee of the Party.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“It may be relevant at this juncture to quote out the provision of section 8(17) of the Party Constitution for the effect; Chapter II, Section 8 (17) of the PDP Constitution sates that: ‘Any member who loses his membership for reasons other than non-payment of annual subscription may be readmitted on the recommendation of his Ward Executive Committee, through the Local Government Area Executive Committee, to the State Chapter of the party, and ultimately made to the National Working Committee, subject to ratification by the National Executive Committee”.</p><br /><br/><br />="left"><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/> </div><br /></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><p><img alt="Al-Makura" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-109329" height="270" src="http://ift.tt/1fH1yTP" width="400"/>The sour relationship between Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State and the state House of Assembly worsened yesterday as he refused to honour an invitation by the state lawmakers.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The House had written the governor and some stakeholders including the commissioner of police, Director of State Security Service (SSS), commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I, inviting them for a closed door meeting.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>But at yesterday’s sitting, the House Majority Leader, Godiya Akwashiki, read a reply to the letter, in which the governor insisted that he will not honour the invitation because the House did not clearly state the agenda for the meeting.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Members, who deliberated on the letter of invitation and Al-Makura’s reply, said the agenda was clearly spelt out as insecurity in some parts of the state, just as they said all other stakeholders invited for the same purpose indicated their willingness to honour the invitation.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Deputy Speaker, Elisha Agwadu, who presided over the sitting, then moved a motion that the governor be summoned to appear today (Wednesday) to explain why he turned down the invitation.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The motion was approved by the House.</p><br /><br/><br />="left"><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/> </div><br /></div>
