Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), has raised the alarm that operatives of the Directorate of State Service are after his life.</b><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />While maintaining that the christian body collected the said amount, Dikwa said the DSS operatives had forced him to sign a document, which they plan to “show the entire world that President(Jonathan) did not bribe CAN to work against the Presidential candidate of the APC.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The cleric said the DSS planned to use the ‘document’, which he signed under duress in some national dailies, to portray him as telling lies against the body of Christ.<br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“They forced me to sign and promised to link me up with the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, for us to ‘settle’,” he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He added that some Christian leaders, especially, the Abuja CAN Chairman, had pleaded with him to recant, by saying the Christian body never collected the said amount.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The cleric in Kaduna on Thursday told a news conference that after the DSS had treated him like a “common criminal,” the operatives forced him to sign a document, to state that what he had said on the bribery saga was untrue.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to him, since he broke the news on how the Christian body collected N7bn from Jonathan to work against the APC presidential candidate, his life had been under threat.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Dikwa explained that as soon as he finished addressing newsmen on the the alleged scam, the DSS invited him to their headquarters in Abuja and asked him to denounce that CAN did not collect a kobo from Jonathan.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The cleric said, “The DSS invited me to their office in Abuja. They wanted to know who gave me the information that CAN collected N7bn from Jonathan and I told them.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“They said all those I mentioned will be invited and told them to go ahead and invite them. I even told them how the money was disbursed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“They also said they wanted to know whether the opposition All Progressives Congress is the one sponsoring me to tarnish the image of the CAN and they mentioned Sam Nda Isaiah(Publisher of the Leadership newspapers) and I told them my relationship with him is not political because since 2006, I have been with him. I told them, he(Sam) does not know anything about my revelation on the said money.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“They also asked what was my connection with the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Rotimi Amaechi and I told them there is nothing that connects us. It must stop.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I think those issues need to be addressed and until we address them and begin to close all the loopholes in government revenues, we are going to continue to create opportunity for the destruction of the economy.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />However, the NNPC in its reaction on Thursday raised strong objections to Mr. Sanusi’s claims, describing it as “the latest gambit” against the findings of the Senate Committee on Finance and the audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The NNPC in the statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Ohi Alegbe, said the issue of kerosene subsidy was addressed by the Senate Committee on Finance.<br/><br /><br/><br />According to Mr. Alegbe, the process of implementing the Presidential directive was not followed through by the Minister of Petroleum Resources at that time as required by law, which technically meant that kerosene subsidy was not removed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We are therefore at a loss as to what Sanusi II meant by his statement that issues surrounding his allegation of unremitted $20bn, especially regarding kerosene subsidy, have not been adequately addressed,” he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Why the royal father appears hell-bent on hanging a tag of corruption on the Corporation even when all the inquiries into his allegation of unremitted funds have proved otherwise remains a mystery to us,” Mr. Alegbe added.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

I find the court judgment queer.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“But because we believe in the rule of law, that judgement must be respected, what INEC needs to do is to go to the superior court and vacate that judgment.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“If we are going to have resemblance of an election, we need very robust security so military back up should be there.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I have no objection to military presence during the polls.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“So that court judgment should be vacated. Where are the ways this equipment can be used in a negative ways? All these we have considered.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Nwafor added that the commission’s Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and card readers would help to eliminate election frauds in the forthcoming general elections.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He identified some of the election fraud in the country to include buying of votes, voter impersonation, ballot stuffing, mis-recording of vote and multiple voting.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Multiple voting should be a thing of the past and the card reader would ensure one man: one vote,’’ he said.<br/><br /><br/><br />He, however, added that curbing election fraud was not just the duty of INEC but all stakeholders.<br/><br /><br/><br />Also speaking, INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, expressed the commission’s confidence in its card readers, adding that it had procured adequate functional card readers needed for the conduct of the elections.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Jega said that the commission had taken adequate measures to ensure that the card readers do not fail, stating that in the mock test conducted, no card reader failed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We have about 150,000 voting points, because we broke some of the large polling units into voting points.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We have procured 182,000 card readers, of all of these, we have only about 400 that were `dead on arrival’ – factory faults.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“They have been brought and they cannot boot, so we are comfortable about the integrity of the card readers itself and all the public demonstrations and test we have done, no card reader has failed.<br/><br /><br/><br />“In addition we already have extra battery in case there is a problem with the charge of batteries or lack of functionality of the battery.“<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Jega added that because the country would be holding three elections in one day, it had to adopt measures to ensure that the ballot papers were properly placed in correct ballot boxes.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Because we are doing three elections on March 28 and then two set on April 11, we are using three ballot boxes and three and two ballot boxes for March 28 and April 11 respectively.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We have done colour coding just to make it easier to avoid mistake in placing the ballot papers in the appropriate ballot boxes,’’ he added.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said the commission had agreed to open each of the ballot boxes and sort out wrongly placed ballot papers after election in the presence of all agents and observers before counting.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to him, the commission would continue with its sensitisation programme on the need for people to place their cast votes in the appropriate boxes.
