We call it commercial music. This is the music that brings the millions. People are still doing good music here but there is no buzz. It is the commercial music which some people term ‘bad’ music that is getting us the millions.</p><br /><p>It is all about the business of music and the ‘glam’ that accompanies it. I said before that I was doing good music before, but the buzz was not there. So, I researched what the need is and experimented with songs like ‘Make I Nak You Apako’ and others. It is not easy<br/><br />doing music; recording a song is a piece of creativity and you just do it from your heart and await the feedback from listeners ”.</p><br /></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><p>The Gombe State Government said it would use the Children’s Day celebration to pray for the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls and others killed at the Federal Government College Buni-Yadi, Yobe.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, who made this known to journalists in Gombe on Monday, said the children would gather at the stadium to offer prayers.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ababukar said the state government cancelled the fanfare associated with the Children’s Day celebration because of the security challenges in the North-East.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“This year we are dropping all the fanfare and celebration. <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><p>President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged to collaborate with the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) in seeking divine guidance to govern the country.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Speaking, Monday in Ibadan at the Annual Session and Centenary Celebration of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Mens’ Missionary Union (MMU) held at Molete Baptist Church, Ibadan, Jonathan, who was represented by an aide, Mr Moses Siasia said the centenary celebration came at a time when he was saddled with leadership responsibility.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He urged the NBC to use the opportunity of the centenary celebration to work for the growth and development of the country in line with his transformation agenda.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>In his remarks, Dr Bawari George, the National President of the MMU, thanked Baptist men for their contributions to the growth and development of the Convention.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He noted that the MMU had made considerable efforts in the training and missionary activities of the Royal Ambassadors, a group for Batist boys under the union.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>In a goodwill message to the occasion delivered by Mrs Ibim Semenitari, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers said men raised in the Baptist tradition had made significant contributions to the progress of the country.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Semenitari, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication said: “This is understandable because Baptist men have the heritage of spirituality, discipline and democratic principles.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“As Baptist men, I am sure that you know that your faith has no meaning if men and women cannot see Christ in the way you live your lives and the impact you make to your generation.”</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Amaechi noted that if the Church of God plays its role by speaking the truth in love and eschewing evil, there would be enough resources in the country to improve the lives of the poor.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The theme of the Centenary Celebration is: “Moving Forward: Celebrating and Renewing our Ministries.” [NAN]</p><br /><br/><br />="left"><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/> </div><br /></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><p>Contrary to widely held belief that cholesterol is bad for the body, a veterinarian, Dr Mari Dawuda, said in Jos on Monday that many researches have proven that cholesterol is good for the body.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Dawuda, the Chief Executive Officer, Nannang GZ Veterinary Services, Jos, said this in reaction to the impression that eggs were not very healthy for humans of a particular age group due to its cholesterol content.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Cholesterol is a soft, waxy lipid (fat) found in the bloodstream and in all body cells transported to and from the cells by special proteins carriers called `lipoproteins’.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>An article entitled “Fixing the Broken Cholesterol Paradigm’’ by Dr. J. E. Williams, explained that there are two main types of lipoproteins — low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL).</p><br /><br/><br /><p>According to the article, LDL is the major cholesterol carrier in the blood.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“If too much LDL cholesterol circulates in the blood, it can clog your arteries. About one-third of blood cholesterol is carried by HDL, and is referred to as “good cholesterol” (and LDL as “bad cholesterol”) because high HDL levels seem to protect against a heart attack.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“We need cholesterol in every part of our body for brain and nerve cells, Vitamin D and steroid hormone synthesis, for healthy cell membranes, and many other structures and functions in the body.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Too little cholesterol over time can lead to hearing and vision loss, and is associated with chronic constipation and megacolon, liver failure, and spontaneous miscarriages.’’</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Corroborating Williams’ view, Dawuda said:“The body produces cholesterol and if the egg is not taken, the body has to produce its own, and the one the body produces is more harmful.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“It is a low density `lipoprotein’ which is more dangerous to health than the one from the egg which is the high density `lipoprotein’.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“In fact, in developed countries, medical practitioners no longer discuss eggs as a medical issue.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Eggs are very much needed by the old and the young alike and we do know that nutrients from the egg help build our health, our memories and are of enormous benefits to man.’’</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Besides, the doctor said that the human body rather than reject cholesterol, needed it for the body to function well.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He said that egg was one of the cheapest sources of protein and therefore, encouraged Nigerians not to be afraid of consuming eggs.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>According to him, because of the fear of side effects, many Nigerians are not eating enough eggs as required by their bodies.
