The woman’s daughter told police that her boyfriend killed her mother after she used a racial slur against him.</p><br /><p>Video surveillance of the Bali hotel in which the three stayed, showed that 62-year-old Sheila von Wiese-Mack, was attacked with an iron fruit bowl.</p><br /><p>19-year-old Heather Mack, and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Tommy Schaefer, are being held as suspects in the murder of the woman.</p><br /><p>Mack told police that Schaefer became angry when Wiese-Mack called him ni’gga. The badly beaten body of Wiese-Mack, was found stuffed in a suitcase into the trunk of a taxi at the St. Regis Bali Resort.</p><br /><p>Investigators also said that Mack watched her boyfriend kill her mother.</p><br /><p>When hotel staff noticed blood stains on the bags belonging to the couple, they told their taxi driver to go to a police station, where officers opened the suitcase and discovered the body.</p><br /><p>Police found a bloodstained jacket belonging to Schaefer, when police caught him at another hotel in Bali. Laboratory results showed that the blood matched the blood of Wiese-Mack.</p><br /></div>

She was reported to have been hit by a hit-and-run driver along the Sanni Abacha expressway in Yenagoa.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Instead of treating her due to the bruises and cuts in her body, the doctors refused, claiming it may be Ebola. They refused even when the victim showed pictures from the scene of the accident.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The woman was brought into the casualty section at 2pm on Monday. She was abandoned and she later died at about 11am on Tuesday.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Even when the mortuary attendants were asked to take the body to the morgue by Dr. Ogiriki and Dr. Okubo, they refused. They took the body after the intervention of the Head of Administration, Mr. Ogoro Oyondombra. If deemed safe, it will then be given to another small group of volunteers, aged 18 to 50, to see if it produces a strong immune response to the virus. All will be monitored closely for side effects.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The vaccine will be administered to volunteers by an injection in the deltoid muscle of their arm, first in a lower dose, then later in a higher dose after the safety of the vaccine has been determined.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Some of the preclinical studies that are normally done on these types of vaccines were waived by the FDA during the expedited review, Fauci said, so “we want to take extra special care that we go slowly with the dosing.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The vaccine did extremely well in earlier trials with chimpanzees, Fauci told the AFP on Tuesday.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He noted that the method being used to prompt an immune response to Ebola cannot cause a healthy individual to become infected with the virus.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Still, he said, “I have been fooled enough in my many years of experience. I have said that severally. I am sure you will ensure that the relationship between the military, civilians and politicians is cordial, such that the 2015 elections would not be controversial.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for its role in the fight against militancy and criminality in Rivers State while appealing to the Army to leverage on its strong security networks to help stamp out kidnapping in the state as further perpetration could crumble the fast growing economy of the state.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We have a peaceful co-existence in Rivers State with the military. And we cannot claim to have fought militancy if not for the support of the 2nd Brigade, Bori Camp. There was a period it was so bad, they had to get more soldiers from outside to join the soldiers here in Rivers State. After that you could freely drive around peacefully until recently.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The situation in Rivers State is gradually going back to what it used to be in 2006, 2007, and 2008. It is not the cause of the Brigade Commander or the Army. The problem is that, politicians are back and they have brought back the boys. They say, they are freedom fighters. Now what are they fighting for? I have argued that the reason for which the militancy was set up was to get the Presidency to the South-South region. We no longer hear about resource control. And if we cannot control our resources, then we need to go back to our houses and allow the government in power to govern the state.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I want the 2nd Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Bori Camp to work with us, because we need to stamp out kidnapping in Rivers state. There are competing economies in the country and the largest of all is Lagos while the second is Rivers State and if kidnapping continues, our economy will crash, unemployment will rise and we may not be able to compete with the comity of states,” Amaechi said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Congratulating the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. We need to understand that the present generation of students do things more on-line and less with paper. We need to teach our students in line with these realities. Paul Wampana, made the call at the maiden meeting of the group in Abuja on Saturday.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Wampana told newsmen that the meeting was called to discuss how the group could assist their people, who had been affected by terrorist attacks.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The thrust of this meeting is to see how we can collaborate with the Federal and state governments to bring succour to the people affected by the activities of the insurgents.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“It is also to looked at the long term way of bringing these people back to their domain, resettle them and provide their immediate need,” he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The chairman said the group would get the statistics of the people that had been affected by the attacks so as to avoid a repeat of what happened after the 2012 flood disaster.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The disaster came, affected people and the Federal Government voted huge sum of money but it went into the wrong hands.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Our zone is situated either directly inside Sambisa forest or share borders with forest currently the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency and the theatre of war.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Our people are being killed, maimed, displaced and their lands and property destroyed, instances such as the abduction of our Chibok girls yet to be found and released remain fresh in our hearts,’’ he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to him, Northern Adamawa and Southern Borno Elders is non-partisan, non-political and non-sectarian group.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“It is also not an advocacy or a pressure group; it is simply the coming together of people concerned with the plight and suffering of their people,” he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Northern Adamawa and Southern Borno comprise 16 local government areas, Adamawa North had seven while Borno South had nine.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />They are Adamawa North: Hong, Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South and Maiha, while Borno South: Askira-Uba, Biu, Bayo Chibok, Damboa, Gwoza, Hawul, Kwaya-Kusar and Shani.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Wampana commended the Federal Government, Adamawa and Borno for the steps taken so far to check the attacks, adding that there was still much to be done to restore security.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He appealed to the government to make sure that various programmes, including the Victims Support Fund Committee, Safe School Initiative and relief materials, reached the affected people.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The News Agency of Nigeria reports that members of the National Assembly from the areas and many retired military personnel from the affected areas attended the meeting.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Some of them, who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity called for the deployment of more troops as well as mobile quick response squad to check the incessant attacks.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />NAN also reports that, at the meeting, a minute silence was observed in honour of those who had died in various attacks.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

We are only discouraging it and it is going to be temporary until it is clear that Nigeria is no longer under Ebola threat.<br/><br /><br/><br />“It’s a possible means to avoid the spread of Ebola virus and also prayers to keep the country safe. Many people are not comfortable with shaking people they don’t know during this period of Ebola, so there is need to take such steps.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In the same vein, the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Rev. Fr Chris Bologo, had also instructed worshippers to avoid shaking of hands.<br/><br /><br/><br />He said the rites of the sign of peace would be avoided subsequently until there were clear indications that Ebola spread has been tamed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Bologo assured the congregation that the steps put in place were geared towards ensuring that worshippers were free from having contact with persons who might have the virus.<br/><br /><br/><br />However, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Bishop Mike Okonkwo has urged Nigerians to go about their businesses and not to be afraid of Ebola virus.<br/><br /><br/><br />Okonkwo spoke at the TREM headquarters, Abuja as the Guest Speaker of a seminar tagged ‘Leading Edge Conference’.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “Today, most people read newspapers and watch television. They tell you to bath with salt, and you go and bath with salt. It is clear from the foregoing that Aregbesola has not only won but he has also won convincingly.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />I hereby congratulate him and his party on their victory. I commend INEC for conducting a free and fair election in which there was no rigging. I commend the security agencies for maintaining law and order and ensuring that no-one was killed or maimed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />I salute the courage of my friends and colleagues in the PDP in Osun state for putting up a good fight. I thank my kinsmen and the good people of my district, zone and hometown Ile-Ife particularly for standing by the PDP in this election and delivering virtually all the votes in their four local government areas to our son and candidate Senator Iyiola Omisore.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />This is democracy and the will of the people must be respected.
