President Goodluck Jonathan has said that the resounding victory recorded by the Super Falcons in the just-concluded African Women's Soccer Championship in Windhoek, Namibia was an indication that the FIFA Women's World Cup is within their reach.
Jonathan made his position known in a message he posted on his Facebook page.
The President said the female players made the nation proud by their victory over the Lionesses or Cameroon to win the tittle they lost to Equatorial Guinea in 2012.
He added that they further demonstrated what he called the "great-can-do-spirit" of Nigeria by their feat.
The President wrote, "I am delighted at the victory of the Super Falcons at the CAF African Women's Championship.
"They have made Nigeria proud and demonstrated without doubt the great-can-do-spirit of the Nigerian!
"With this victory, the FIFA Women's World Cup is within reach.
"May God bless the Super Falcons and may He also Forever bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
