<script type="text/javascript"> <script size='468x60' src='http://srvpub.com/adServe/banners?tid=22528_31474_5' type='text/javascript'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google_ad_client = "ca-pub-6630608044863529"; google_ad_slot = "4870332095"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; </script> <script src='//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js' type='text/javascript'> </script> <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><div class='separator' style='clear: both; text-align: center;'><a href="http://ift.tt/1EpGcJL" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://ift.tt/1EpGcJL" width="640"/> </a> </div><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Adekunle Ogunmola, said on Friday the issuance of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in the state would be extended by one day due to late supply of materials.<br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ogunmola told newsmen in Lagos that the collection of the cards and Continuous Voters Registration would be extended to make up for the delay.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ogunmola said, “Most of the materials that we need are supplied by the headquarters and without receiving those materials there is very little we can do.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“So, we got some of these materials very late and the materials will require printing and they are quite voluminous.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The register of voters of 4.8 million people is what has caused the delay.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“This delay was not caused by the people, it was caused by INEC.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“And because of that, what we are going to do is to extend the collection time to five o’clock (p.m) daily and give one day extra to compensate for this delay.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I think, the combination of these two will more than compensate for the initial delay,’’ he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The commissioner said INEC would ensure that it captured the data of every eligible voter in all the local government areas in order to guarantee a free and fair election.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The staggered arrangement of distribution: 11 local governments first, then the remaining nine local governments last.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“To me, it is a blessing in disguise for Lagos state, because it will afford us the opportunity of concentrating on those 11. We will do the PVC and CVR for those 11.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“After the conclusion of that, we know that we have to concentrate on the remaining nine. I saw at least 10 people that looked dead,” said one witness, Lamara Ibrahim, after the latest blast.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said he was not in a position to authoritatively confirm a death toll.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Musa Usman, who was also nearby, gave an identical account of the attack and estimated that several people were killed.<br/><br /><br/><br />Police in Bauchi did not answer calls and messages seeking comment.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ishola Micheal, the spokesman for Bauchi’s Governor Isha Yuguda, said he was aware of an incident in Azare but declined to confirm any details.<br/><br /><br/><br />– More troops needed –<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Adamawa state Governor Bala Ngilari told reporters earlier on Friday that military reinforcements were needed to halt Boko Haram’s advance.<br/><br /><br/><br />Speaking in the capital Abuja, he said the Islamists controlled five municipalities in his home district, aside from the more than two dozen towns and villages they have seized in recent months.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Nigeria imposed a state of emergency in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa in May last year but many believed that Adamawa was included as a precaution.<br/><br /><br/><br />Violence in Adamawa had been relatively contained compared with Borno and Yobe further north.<br/><br /><br/><br />But Boko Haram has since captured significant parts of the state, underscoring the severity of the crisis, with the militants apparently advancing with little resistance south of their Borno stronghold.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Residents in Mubi, part of the governor’s home district, told AFP on Thursday that the extremists had changed the town’s name to Madinatul Islam, or “City of Islam” in Arabic.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Locals said the Islamists have imposed Sharia (Islamic law) punishments in areas under their control, including the amputation of the hands of accused thieves.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />– Rights violations –<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Community leaders and medical workers in the town of Potiskum this week said that 16 civilians were brought to a morgue with bullet holes on their bodies after being arrested by the military.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The report will likely raise fresh concern among experts who argue that abuses by soldiers have helped boost Boko Haram’s ranks by pushing dejected young men in the region towards radicalisation.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Meanwhile, vigilantes working with the military in embattled Borno state have boasted about the mass beheading of Islamist fighters near the town of Biu, an alleged incident that Human Rights Watch said must be probed.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />(AFP)<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

On the other hand, the foreign airlines sold tickets worth N231 billion in the same year”.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Continuing he said the “domestic airlines were able to ferry 5 million passengers across Nigeria in 2013.On the West Coast route,277,000 passengers were moved. In Intra – African route 437,000 passengers and on the Intercontinental route 1.4 million passengers were airlifted.”<br/><br /><br/><br />The NCAA DG who was represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, the Director, Consumer Protection said all these were achieved with the domestic airlines operating a total of 63,000 frequencies across the country while on the West Coast there were 4000 frequencies, Intra – Africa 4000, Intercontinental 7300 frequencies.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The added that in recognition of the increase in the volume of passengers, the Directorate of Consumer Protection (DCP) has intensified efforts to process complaints and ensure comfort of air travellers.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to him, “Nigeria has therefore become an attractive destination for foreign airlines and ceaseless application for additional frequencies. At present Nigeria has Bilateral Air Services Agreement, BASA, with 78 countries.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />However, some of these are not being utilised. In order to strengthen and widen our BASA with existing and new countries, Nigerian delegates will be attending an ICAO Air Services Negotiation Conference (ICAN 2014) from 17th – 21st November 2014 at Bali, Indonesia.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Speaking on the impending ICAO audit he said “the ICAO Audit conducted in a few years back, Nigeria scored very high marks. Restored to the kind of pivotal attacking role which saw him elected United’s Players’ Player of the Year in their 2010-11 title-winning season, Nani has excelled in Portugal, scoring six times in 13 appearances; including three from four Champions League fixtures. He has been directly involved in more than half of Sporting’s goals since his return.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Nani’s importance to Sporting mitigates against Woodward and Van Gaal securing his return.
