<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'>The paramount ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu has appealed to Igbo residents in Lagos state to vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Oba made the appeal on Sunday when he met with Igbo leaders in his palace.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><div class='separator' style='clear: both; text-align: center;'><a href="http://ift.tt/1DQQTqC" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://ift.tt/1DQQTqC" width="212"/> </a> <a href="http://ift.tt/1a8XBMo" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://ift.tt/1a8XBMo"/> </a> </div><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He urged them to swing their votes to the APC because he personally chose the governorship candidate of the party. It was believed that Igbo residents of Lagos, voted unanimously for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 28 March elections.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Lagos Oba was visibly angry during his address and said he was not begging, but giving an instruction as to what he expected his Igbo citizens to do.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him that he can never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here. If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you”.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The monarch said anybody against Ambode does not wish the state well.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“‎I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfil that mission.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change. From time immemorial, the previous occupiers of this house will say what they wanted after consultation with other people. And this hasn’t changed and it will not change at this time.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Akiolu restated what he has always said that Goodluck Jonathan administration did not cause the crisis in Nigeria, but that the crisis was caused by another person he refused to name.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“If not for the appeal from Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) and my highly respected maternal father, the Awujale of Ijebuland, all what is happening today is not the cause of the present government. The man who caused everything knows himself”.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised that Igbo in Lagos would support Ambode.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbo. It is not only the Igbo that were responsible for the votes.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win. Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. We are going to tell our people that Ezes from the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas are here and that we have sworn with the Oba that w‎e are going to make sure that Ambode wins next Saturday’s election.‎”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br /><div><img src="http://ift.tt/1xx3Bmn"/> </div><br /><br/><br /><div><span style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;'><span style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;'><br/> </span> </span> </div><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The forensic audit report on the alleged missing $20bn unremitted oil revenue carried out by the reputable international firm, PriceWaterhouseCoopers has<br/><br /><br/><br />absolved the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of culpability over the allegation of non-remittance of $20bn, saying that what is due for<br/><br /><br/><br />remittance to the Federation Account is $1.48bn Nigerian Petroleum Development <a id="more" name="more"> </a>Company (NPDC) being signature bonus, taxes and royalties on the<br/><br /><br/><br />assets transferred to the Corporation’s upstream subsidiary, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In a statement made available to journalists by Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, the Corporation noted that the release of the forensic audit report has finally laid to rest the controversy surrounding allegations of “missing oil revenue” or non-remittance to the Federation Account.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Corporation explained that it was not true that it was indicted in the Forensic Audit Report as being speculated in some quarters as the $1.48bn that the audit firm recommended the Corporation to remit to the Federation Account was not part of the alleged unremitted revenues from crude lifting.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It explained that the $1.48bn was never in dispute as it is made up of statutory payments such as signature bonus, taxes and royalties which are statutory<br/><br /><br/><br />payments that come with assets acquisition.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It stated that the delay in payment was due to the reconciliation processes between the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the NNPC.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Meanwhile, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has directed the NNPC to defray the signature bonuses, taxes and royalties in line with the recommendation of the forensic audit report.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Corporation stated that the forensic audit report and the Senate Committee on Finance report on the unremitted revenue all alluded to the fact that NPDC reported crude oil revenues of $5.11bn.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It further explained that the forensic audit acknowledged that the total cash remitted into the Federation Accounts in relation to the crude lifting in the<br/><br /><br/><br />period under review was $50.81bn and not $47bn and that subsidy on premium motor spirit and dual purpose kerosene stood at $8.7bn.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Expatiating further on the kerosene subsidy issue, the Corporation stated that the Forensic Audit Report also clarified that subsidy on DPK is still in<br/><br /><br/><br />force as the presidential directive of 19th October, 2009, was not gazetted in line with provisions of section 6 sub section 1 of the Petroleum Act of 1969.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Forensic Audit Report also acknowledged that section 7 subsection 4 of NNPC Act empowers the Corporation to defray its costs and expenses including the costs of its subsidiaries from crude oil revenues, though it also recommended that the laws be reviewed to make the Corporation meet its costs and expenses<br/><br /><br/><br />entirely from the value it creates.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It would be recalled that the Federal Ministry of Finance last year hired the PriceWaterHouseCoopers, to investigate the veracity of the allegation by the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, that $48.9bn and later $20bn was not remitted to the Federation Account by the NNPC.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>
