Due to the beating she got from the husband on that fateful day which inflicted injuries on her right leg and on her vital organs, she was rushed to hospital.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“She was unconscious at the nearby hospital were she was rush to and the doctors on duty confirmed her dead. The reason for the beating is yet-to-ascertained. Two nurses who cared for him subsequently contracted the disease and are now being treated in specialist facilities.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“As an institution, we made mistakes in handling this very difficult challenge,” the hospital said in a “letter to our community” that was published in Sunday’s Dallas Morning News.<br/><br /><br/><br />The apology came as a lab worker from the hospital who had been on a cruise returned to Texas. Because of fears she may have had contact with Duncan’s fluids, she had voluntarily remained in isolation in her cabin.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Carnival Cruise Lines said in a statement that a blood test confirmed she was not infected, and she got off the boat after it returned to Galveston. The liner had been refused entry to Belize and Mexico over fears of the disease.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Duncan had flown from Liberia to Texas to visit family, arriving in Dallas on September 20. He began feeling sick four days later, but was not hospitalized until September 28.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He was sent home after an initial visit to the emergency room, even after he reported Ebola-like symptoms and said he had recently traveled from Liberia, the hardest-hit nation in the current outbreak.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The fact that Mr Duncan had traveled to Africa was not communicated effectively among the care team, though it was in his medical chart,” the hospital said in its letter, which was signed by Texas Health CEO Barclay Berdan.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We did not correctly diagnose his symptoms as those of Ebola. For this, we are deeply sorry.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The letter added that the facility “did not live up to the high standards that are the heart of our hospital’s history, mission and commitment.”<br/><br /><br/><br />Two nurses, Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, who cared for Duncan are now fighting the disease. And this President was there when General (Olusegun) Obasanjo presided over the agreement in the PDP, which agreed that the movement of the Presidency from North to South should be based on two terms.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“President Obasanjo did his two terms on behalf of the South, and Yar’Adua was doing his first term on behalf of the North but unfortunately, he died. And the PDP leaders, instead of agreeing on somebody from the North to complete Yar’Adua’s term, they all went to ensure that the Vice President became the President; and since the leaders we made agreement with departed from this agreement, I lost interest in Nigerian political affairs.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Because if you cannot trust people you form a party with, you win power with, you work hard with, whether it is Tony Annenih or any other of the party, I lost interest in the party itself.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />While assessing the party since 2011 to date, the former minister expressed concern over the current security challenge in the land.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “The biggest of the worries facing the country is that of insecurity and the issue of Boko Haram, people who steal and the issue of bombing. Fifty one parents were given N100,000 each on the basis that the money given to him was not enough to go round at N200,000. The remaining 10 parents were not given any amount of money.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“As for the money given to some parents back home in Chibok, it was the sum of N1m given to them by the member of the House of Reps representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency which is the source of the alleged N7,000.00 given to parents in Chibok that were not part of the visit.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The association said it was disturbed and disgusted by media reports that its leadership received money from the Presidency, describing the claim as “false, malicious and unfounded.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The KADA stated that it had spelt out to the Presidency through the office of the Chief of Staff that it would not be involved with any financial transaction whatsoever, including payment of transportation from Chibok to Yola, flight by air from Yola to Abuja, hotel accommodation and feeding in Abuja, as well as the intra-city transportation of the parents and girls while in Abuja.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It said, ” Our primary priority has and remains the rescue of our abducted 219 daughters. It gave no further information on what might have happened to the plane.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was seen arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to meet with officials on the tragedy.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />"I am shocked by reports that an MH plane crashed," he said earlier on his Twitter feed.<br/><br /><br/><br />"We are launching an immediate investigation."<br/><br /><br/><br />Government officials were expected to hold a press conference early Friday.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the jet crashed over rebel-held eastern Ukraine and may have been shot down.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />"We do not exclude that the plane was shot down and confirm that the Ukraine Armed Forces did not fire at any targets in the sky," Poroshenko said in a statement posted on the president's website.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Regional officials in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine confirmed the plane had come down near the town of Shaktarsk.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />A social media site attributed to a top Ukrainian rebel commander said insurgents had shot down an army transporter at the location where the plane came down near the Russian border.<br/><br /><br/><br />The comments suggest the separatists had shot down the aircraft by mistake, believing it was a large Ukrainian army transport plane.<br/><br /><br/><br />Emergency services were rushing to the scene, a security source told Interfax-Ukraine.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />The incident is a fresh body blow to the flag carrier which, along with the Malaysian government, is still struggling to provide answers to the disappearance of flight MH370.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />That plane went missing with 239 passengers and crew on board and is now believed to have diverted off its flight path and crashed in the remote Indian Ocean.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />No trace of the plane has yet been found.<br/><br /><br/><br />Kiev earlier accused Russia of downing a Ukrainian military plane on a mission over the east of the country, stoking tensions in the growing conflict on the edges of Europe that has claimed over 600 lives.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, who was on a China visit, tweeted: "I'm taking the first flight back from Beijing to be on top of #MH17. Rochas Okorocha of Imo gave the advice at a Town Hall meeting he held with youths and people of Ikeduru and Mbaitoli Local Government areas of the state.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He said that the current administration introduced the programme and other empowerment projects as part of measures to keep Imo youths away from anti-social activities.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Okorocha said that with the programme in place, there was no reason for any Imo youth to roam the streets or engage in anti- social activities.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He, however, warned that youths, who failed to engage in meaningful activities, would risk arrest by May.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The governor, who inspected projects at the two local governments in company of his deputy, Mr Eze Mmadumere, expressed optimism that the meeting would bring about new focus and programmes for the areas.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He said that his government had put machinery in place to ensure that all projects initiated by the current administration were completed.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“I will not start any project that I will not finish. It is not in my character,” he said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Okorocha assured the people that the state would continue on the path of progress in terms of infrastructure and social development.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He urged the people to resist any government that would put the free education and other current development programmes of the state government on the reverse.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The governor approved the building of 14 new primary schools for the people of Ikeduru and awarded the construction of two additional roads for the people of Mbaitoli as special packages.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He expressed regret that out of the 24.8-km road approved for Ikeduru at the cost of N1.48 billion, only about five kilometres had been tarred.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The governor said that N705 million had been paid to the contractors, assuring that no contractor would be allowed to embezzle money meant for road construction.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Earlier, Mmadumere who hails from Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, said that the governor’s visit had provided opportunity for the people to get acquainted with programmes of government.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Madumere urged the people to continue to support the government.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>In his address, the Chairman, Transition Committee of Ikeduru Local Government Area, Mr Obinna Nshirim, applauded the governor’s policies on education, healthcare and aggressive rural road transformation.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>That of Mbaitoli, Dr Pat Nnah, expressed confidence in the visionary leadership of governor and assured of the continued support of the people of the area.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The Chairman, Imo Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri, who also hails from the area, appealed to the people of the area to reciprocate the governor’s kind gesture by giving him massive support.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Two members of the state House of Assembly representing Ikeduru and Mbaitoli Constituencies – Mr Sam-Daddy Anyanwu and Mr Victor Ndunagu- said the governor had performed creditably well.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ndunagu appealed to the state government to capture construction of more roads in its budget for Mbaitoli to compensate for its land mass and large population.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that many political appointees and stakeholders from Mbaitoli and Ikeduru attended the occasion.
