The Peoples Democratic Party has said it is ready to defend itself against the court case instituted against it by a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

The party said this while reacting to a suit filed by the former minister against it and two others in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking with journalists on the matter, the National Secretary of the party, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, vowed that the party would defend its position on the issue.

He said he was happy that the former minister was going to court, adding that this would enable the party to proof and defend its positions.

He said that the party would study the case, and "we will defend our integrity, our party, the federal government and more importantly we will defend our nascent democracy because we believe that we as a ruling party owe it a duty to Nigerians home and abroad to defend our democracy.

"All anti-democratic forces that are creating instability of this nation they will be exposed with facts and figures no amount of intimidation, blackmail name calling will stop us from providing the necessary good leadership to millions of Nigerians."
