<p>Seven persons including a taxi driver and his passengers died yesterday afternoon after an uncompleted pedestrian bridge at Dorayi quarters in Kano state collapsed on them at about 4.45pm, April 26th. According to reports, construction workers had warned the taxi driver and pedestrians not to pass under the bridge as it was still under construction but they ignored the warning and as soon as the taxi driver drove under the bridge, it caved, crumbling on the taxi killing the driver, its passengers and other pedestrians. The bodies of the victims have been deposited at a hospital mortuary</p>

<p><strong>Torrid time may be awaiting alleged looters in the outgoing government of President Goodluck Jonathan as President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Sunday said his administration would take a second look at the claim by a former Governor of the Central Bank (now Emir of Kano), Muhammad Sanusi II, that $20bn, that was supposed to be remitted by the NNPC to the federation account, could not be unaccounted.</strong></p>
<p>While addressing a delegation of Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who paid him a congratulatory visit at his campaign headquarters in Abuja on his victory at the polls, Buhari showed open bitterness that the present government turned deaf ears over the missing money when it was raised by the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanisu Lamido Sanusi, Vanguard reports.</p>
<p>The President-Elect, who spoke in the local Hausa language, expressed surprise that instead of probing the allegations by the former CBN governor, the authorities chose to fire him.</p>
<p>He also noted that his administration would not condone stealing of public funds meant to provide jobs for the teeming jobless Nigerian youth.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>“I heard that some people have started returning money; I will not believe it until I go and see for myself.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>“Imagine a situation where the former CBN governor who by God ‘s grace would later become the Emir of Kano raised an issue of missing billions of money, not in Naira but in Dollars, $20 billion.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>“What happened, instead of investigating to know whether it was true that the money was missing or not, they simply found a reason to remove him. So these are the issues we are talking about”</em>, Buhari said.</p>
<p>Buhari listed his government top priority areas to include security of lives and property, the economy, job creation and the war against corruption.</p>

<p>This fresh declaration by the president-elect comes hours after a pronouncement by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has started refunding the unremitted $1.48bn into the federation account.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, for the umpteenth time, has threatened to deal with Mohammadu Buhari if the president-elect chooses to imbibe a Pharaoh like regime when he assumes office on May 29.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The ex-warlord also dismissed fears that Buhari could send any one to jail, saying the president-elect does not have the power to imprison anybody.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Dokubo, who was taking a swipe at a Buhari supporter, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, on his Facebook page, made reference to a biblical allusion when he threatened to deal with Buhari in a Moses like manner if Buhari adopts a Pharaoh like regime.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He said: <em>Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim your Buhari does not have that power to send any body to prison….get that into your piggy skull and nobody is afraid of him….We are waiting for him….following the example of GEJ does not make us cowards….If he Buhari wants to be a Pharaoh….then he will find a Moses in me</em>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This is not the first time Asari Dokubo will be uttering such threatening statement, following the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election, Dokubo said he and other militants may be forced to return to the creeks.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The ex-militant had also in January said he and his colleagues would wreak havoc if Jonathan lost the election.</p>
<p>While Asari Dokubo has maintained a defiant disposition towards Buhari, other ex-militants have promised to cooperate with the incoming administration.</p>
<p>They have however pleaded with Buhari not to discontinue the amnesty programme of the Federal government, saying their support for him depends on the sustainability of the programme.</p>

<p><strong>Vanguard reports that at least seven ladies who went for night vigil for deliverance in a new generation church, located at 2nd Cemetery Road, Benin-City, were raped by armed robbers.</strong></p>
<p>The robbers who stormed the church at about 4am were said to have earlier raided a building near Ewuotubu community where they robbed some tenants living in four different flats in the compound. It was learnt that two persons, including a police officer, were shot dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the process.</p>
<p>What was supposed to be an all-night marathon prayer session , tagged ‘Koboko Night’, meant to cast out demons tormenting some members of the church, turned sour as the masked armed robbers, numbering six, shot sporadically, ordering the members to go back to the church shortly after they said the final prayers to depart the church.</p>
<p>The robbers had, on storming the church premises, rained bullets on the roof and ordered members to lie down. Consequently, they raped the women.</p>
<p>One of the victims, who narrated her ordeal to Sunday Vanguard, said, <em>“Though I was not raped, I was beaten mercilessly when they were asking us to identify the pastor and we refused. After collecting our phones, money and jewelleries, they ordered some of the ladies to undress. They threatened to kill them if they refused and, of course, they removed their clothes and were raped one by one.</em></p>
<p><em>“It was actually two churches that they attacked. They raped five women in our church. Later, we found out that they raped two others in a church close to ours. They ransacked the church and collected any cash they found and escaped. It was a horrible sight”.</em></p>
<p>The raped women are said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital on Ekenwan Road, Benin City.</p>
<p>Meanwhile,a 50-year-old self-acclaimed pastor, John Ojebe, has been arrested and charged to court for allegedly duping a lady, Hawo Umoru, of the sum of N390,000 under the pretence of selling her Adonai oil to wash her private parts.</p>

<p> <b>How does it feel being married?</b><br /></p>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">It feels great. I won’t say I’m more responsible now because I have been responsible long before getting married. I have two kids. One way marriage has changed me is, I now know what our parents went through in raising us.For me, I’m now more composed. I try not to worry too much. I’m more focused because I need to work hard to look after my family.</blockquote>
<p> <b>Has your life changed since you became a father and has it, in any way, affected you and your career?</b><br /></p>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">Yes, absolutely! My life has changed but it hasn’t affected my life. I still show my six packs. I still kiss people in the crowd. I still take my semi-nude pictures, travel etc. I’m still me and it’s all still part of the business.<br />

<p> <b>On singing in Igbo</b><br /></p>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">Sometimes, if we don’t sing in Igbo, our people will crucify us (laughs). If you listen to P-Square, you will hear Igbo, English, Pidgin English; even French we try. For us, English is a universal language and I’m not singing in Igbo to try and please my people but I like to inculcate my culture through music.</blockquote>
<p> <b>On rumours that P-Square is planning to split or has split.</b><br /></p>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">Not at all. We just had a minor quarrel just like everyone who has siblings would. We fight and make-up; we fought many times last year but we still go on stage and perform and nobody knows. I can’t come out and say Paul and I have never fought.It’s like a couple who has been married for over 20 years would come out and say they have never fought. It’s impossible; we are humans. It’s a normal thing.</blockquote>

<p>It didn’t affect us. As a matter of fact, it made us even stronger. A lot of people think we are showing off but the truth is if we were not showing off, you would not know what we are worth. If you see me on okada, you won’t pay me ten million to come and do a concert. They say, everything we do – people post it; everything we have, we show off and that we are not Dangote. My dear, Dangote is not in showbiz. Whatever we do, we do because that’s the way it’s supposed to be. What we do is show-business. It’s a show and it’s business so that’s what we do.</p>

<div class="MsoNormal">The marriage that took place between Soccer legend, John Fashanu and his wife, Abigail Onyekwelu, the mother of Nigeria’s former beauty queen, Adaeze Yobo in 2011 has come to an end. Though little was heard about the sudden end of the marriage, it became more opened about 14 hours ago when <a href="http://ift.tt/1HEBWca">Mirror.co.uk</a> published their messy divorce tale. Fashanu said it has always been trouble with Abigail and he has never seen a woman who has so much appetite for money like her. She tried to kill me with a knife, when she caught me in threesome with two women, he explained. She is also a lesbian and a thief, he said again.
<p>Abigail however denied all of these and gave her side of the story. Fahsanu is 52, while Abigail is 48 and if I am correct, they are both grandparents, except none of Fashanu’s children  (5 of them) have no child yet.</p>

<div class="MsoNormal">Fashanu, also a former Gladiators host, is now at the centre of a bitter divorce battle with Abigail – and insists SHE cheated on him with a woman.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">She denies his claims and the astonishing battle – which includes the accusation that he bedded their maid – is to be played out in the high court in Abuja, Nigeria.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Furious Abigail, 48, said last night: “Good riddance to bad rubbish! I’ve left him and washed my hands.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">But Fashanu, 52 – dubbed Fash the Bash for his hardman reputation in Wimbledon’s famous “Crazy Gang” – hit back with an extraordinary series of allegations.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He said he had to call in police to protect him from knife-wielding Abigail and was devastated to find her in bed with another woman.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He also alleged that she stole thousands of pounds in cash from their marital home.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Speaking exclusively to the Sunday People the star – who now presents the Nigerian version of TV’s Deal or No Deal – said: “She attempted to use knives on me. It was terrifying.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“Even if you did think I was sleeping with the maid, or even if you thought I was sleeping with Miss Nigeria, don’t kill me! Just leave me and go. The violence was just too much.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">6ft 2in Fashanu added: “My life was at risk and I didn’t want it to happen again. That’s why I filed for divorce.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He denied his wife’s claim to have discovered him in bed with two other women – one of them their maid.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“The truth is she’s been cheating on me with a woman she calls her spiritual partner.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I caught them in the bed many times. That was why I kicked her out of my house.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Abigail is the mother of former beauty queen Adaeze Yobo. Fashanu met her in 2009. They married two years later but the relationship hit the skids last year.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Father-of-five Fashanu claimed police are now investigating an attack on him. He also alleged that officers are trying to retrieve missing cash from Abigail.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He said: “I’m the one who is filing for divorce. I couldn’t stand her and, to be honest, she probably couldn’t stand me. With Abigail it was just money, money, money.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I’ve never seen a woman who has such an appetite for money. Nearly one million Nigerian naira (around £3,300) was stolen from my house in Abuja. There are police reports you can see.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“There were so many assaults, it was just getting too much. It was absolutely ridiculous. She attacked me on multiple occasions. The whole situation was far too hot for me. There are some wonderful, wonderful women. It’s just that I met the wrong one.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Glamorous socialite Abigail, a qualified lawyer and mother-in-law to former Nigerian football captain Joseph Yobo, paints a totally different picture of the marriage breakdown.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">The mother of four said: “John’s saying I tried to kill him? Oh my God, this is so funny. I don’t quite understand all this.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“How can I kill him? How can somebody like me kill this huge man who is an expert in karate. I don’t understand how I can kill him.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Told that he had accused her of going to his house armed with knives before trying to attack him, Abigail retorted: “Oh my God, that is ridiculous.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">She also rejected Fashanu’s claim that he threw her out of his house after finding her in bed with another woman.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Abigail said: “He didn’t kick me out of his house. We were living in my house. He couldn’t have kicked me out of my own house – I kicked him out.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Of the woman concerned, she insisted: “She is a good friend to me. She has a husband and children. It is ridiculous. She was living with me for a while to get back on her feet.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Abigail went on: “I caught him in bed with two women, the housemaid and one other woman. There were two women, it was awful.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“They were on the bed. They were undressed. I said to them, ‘Who are you and what’s going on here?’</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“He told me that he doesn’t know what he’s doing and I should pray for him. He knows how to manipulate people, that’s one thing he is good at.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I last saw him in April last year. I didn’t know he’d filed for divorce. He has been calling people asking them to plead with me to get back with him.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I would have filed for divorce myself but I haven’t because I’ve been very busy. And he asked me not to because he did not want to make it known that we had separated.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“So I went on my way and I left him but I didn’t tell anybody anything.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I’ve told him, ‘I don’t want you any more, I have forgiven you, I’m a Christian. But I don’t want you any more, just leave me alone.’</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">I don’t take him seriously. I don’t have time for him. If I should be angry at anyone, I should be angry at myself for descending so low as to enter into marriage with such a person.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Responding to claims she stole money from Fashanu, Abigail added: “Anybody can say anything – but how can I go to his house and steal from him in his house?</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">“I wasn’t living there with him. He’s sick and he needs help.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Fashanu was born in London to a Guyanan nurse, Pearl, and Nigerian barrister, Patrick. After they split up he had a spell in a Barnado’s home and was fostered in Norfolk.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">His football career included spells with Norwich City, Lincoln City, Crystal Palace, Millwall and Aston Villa.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He joined Wimbledon in 1986 and famously won the FA Cup in 1988 in a team including Vinnie Jones and Lawrie Sanchez.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Fashanu scored more than 100 goals during his 17-year career, which also included two appearances for England.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">After retiring from football he hosted the hit 1990s TV show Gladiators for seven years alongside Ulrika Jonsson.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">In 2003 he starred as a contestant in the ITV reality show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">His first marriage, to Ivory Coast model Melissa Kassa-Mapsi, ended in divorce in 2004. Now Fashanu is a famous and respected figure in Africa.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He has carried out extensive charity work and is understood to have been a friend of Nelson Mandela.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He is a UN Ambassador for Nigeria, a former Unicef goodwill ambassador for 53 African countries and a former board member of the Nigeria Football Association.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">He also worked to develop professional football across Africa and was Nigeria’s Ambassador for Sport and Tourism. Fashanu now presents the Deal or No Deal Nigeria game show on The Africa Channel and is a successful businessman with interests in London and Abuja.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">But the star suffered heartbreak when his brother Justin, who was Britain’s first openly gay professional footballer, hanged himself in London in 1988.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">After his brother’s suicide, Fashanu expressed remorse for disowning him because of his homosexuality.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">But he later claimed he did not believe Justin was genuinely gay.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Wife Abigail claims he has fathered six children by three different women.</div>

<p><strong>Following a surprise visit by the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano to Rtd. General Muhammadu Buhari, a socio-political pressure group known as Maka Odinma Anambra has cautioned the president-elect to be mindful of the governor’s antics.</strong></p>
<p>The group also enjoined Governor Obiano and other leaders of the South East to stop embarrassing the zone by their careless and shameless attempt to jump onto the Buhari victory train, which they naively refused to board only few weeks earlier.</p>
<p>Irritated by last Friday’s visit by Governor Obiano to president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, wherein he pledged to give General Buhari the same 100% support which he gave to President Goodluck Jonathan, the group wondered whether it was the same man who throughout the electioneering period urged his party members not to vote for a <em>” Jihadist”</em> and a party belonging to the Hausa/Yoruba ethnic nationalities, PM news reports.</p>
<p><em>“It is either Governor Obiano’s mathematics does not add up, or in a desperation to display unbridled loyalty, he mixed up the figures. Pray, if he pledges to give the General the same 100 percent support which he said he gave to President Jonathan before, during and after the general election, then it goes without question that he obviously gave General Buhari zero support during the election that won him victory”,</em> the group said in a statement signed by its Secretary, Emeka Nwazue.</p>
<p><em>“For a man who openly said before the election that any Igbo who vote for APC is a bastard and an enemy of Biafra, and who also used machinery of his government to suppress the interests of General Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in both the Presidential, National and State Assembly elections barely one month ago, to seek to benefit from his perfidy clearly fore-grounds the new abyss into which leadership appear to be sinking in the South East geo-political zone, especially Anambra”,</em> the socio-political organization said.</p>
<p>According to the group, while it was alright for Governor Obiano to pay a courtesy visit to president-elect Buhari, there is everything wrong in attempting to foist on himself the leadership of the Igbo race.</p>
<p><em>“As a mather of fact, we urge Gov. Obiano to remain in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he steadily decimates with each passing day, instead of seeking to pollute current attempts at strengthening the APC in the South east geo-political zone,”</em> Maka Odinma Amambra stated.</p>

<p>The warning from Maka Odinma Anambra comes hours after Governor Willie Obiano, said that President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has the full backing of Anambra state and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">A man has been jailed for life after fathering a child with his own daughter who he defiled repeatedly from when she was just 10.  The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a life sentence after Derby Crown Court after jurors heard how he ‘took his daughter’s life’ through sexual abuse. <a href="http://ift.tt/1b5KziY">DailyMail</a> reports:</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">His depravity was exposed when he impregnated her when she was just a teenager, having ‘poisoned’ the girl against her mother. As she watched her abuser being led away from the dock the girl ran towards him, crying out: ‘I love you and miss you.’ Earlier the court heard how her father had been her primary carer for years and began defiling her when he felt ‘out of sorts or angry’.</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">Despite promising to stop the abuse after each attack, the man carried on abusing her until she became pregnant. In a bid to terminate the pregnancy without raising concern he encouraged his daughter to continue kick boxing, the court heard.  Eventually, when the girl refused to tell authorities who the father of the baby was they ordered a paternity test.</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">The pair fled but were apprehended by police and the man taken into custody. Giving evidence the girl told of how she was too scared to reported her father to police and still ‘loved him’. ‘The abuse has set my life on the wrong course and destroyed the normal childhood and teenage years that everyone deserves,’ she said in a statement.</p>

<p>The Lagos State Government is working on making Wi-Fi available to every resident of the state, an official revealed at the weekend.</p>
<p>Permanent Secretary in the State’s ICT Ministry, Mrs Nike Animashaun, who made the announcement that is sure to excite not a few residents in the mega-city, said first phase of the Wi-Fi connectivity would be deployed at public parks located at different parts of the state.</p>
<p>Specifically, the Wi-Fi would be deployed at parks in Oshodi, Alausa and Ajegunle.</p>
<p>“The Wi-Fi services will be in some of the parks in the state and when it is deployed, residents of Lagos State would be able to access Wi-Fi in some of the parks”, she said</p>
<p>Mrs Animashaun said that the state government came up with the idea to stimulate and encourage the interest of children in science and technology.</p>
<p>The perm sec., however, did not state if the service would be free.</p>
<p>At a ‘2015 Ministerial Press Briefing in Alausa’, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Adebiyi Mabadeje, said the ministry would continue to provide advisory services for all Ministries Department and Agencies on science and Information Communication Technology (ICT).</p>
<p>Mr Mabadeje said the government was using ICT to strengthen the state’s e-governance capabilities in other to conveniently serve its residents.</p>
<p>“In line with our ministerial responsibilities and mission statement of employing science and technology in all activities towards improving the quality of life of Lagos residents and transforming Lagos into a developed industrial and modern city of international statute, the state has leveraged on science and technology to improve service delivery, especially leveraging on ITC to strengthen our government’s capabilities and enable the state to serve residents better”, he said.</p>
