Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni is set to sign into law a bill that would impose a lifetime jail sentence on anyone who commits homosexual acts, a government spokesman said Friday.
In January, Museveni criticized the parliament speaker for passing without a quorum the bill that would make it a crime to be gay, to talk about homosexuality without condemning it and to not report gay activity. A spokesman told the Associated Foreign Press in January that Museveni believes that gay people are sick but should not be killed or jailed for life.
But Museveni said that he would sign the bill if he was offered scientific proof that homosexuality is not genetic, according to BuzzFeed.
