And they were at it for hours without any restraint.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Yesterday, it took the intervention of soldiers to disperse the thugs who had stormed the Benin Airport, as part of the welcoming party for President Goodluck Jonathan, who visited the Benin to lay the foundation stone for the $1 billion Azura-Edo state power project.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The hoodlums assaulted some senior officials of the Edo State Government, including Secretary to the State Government, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Anselm Ojezua and some civil commissioners.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Armed with placards bearing various inscriptions including placards of some PDP aspirants, the thugs disrupted activities at the airport for several minutes as a combined team of soldiers and policemen had a hectic time controlling them.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />On Thursday, a suspended member of the House, Abdulrazak Momoh, who had crossed to the PDP, was attacked by security men attached to the quarters, leading to the arrest of the Majority leader, Philip Shaibu and another member of the house, Sunday Aghedo and three other persons. They were charged on Friday with assault by the Nigerian police.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Also arraigned with the lawmakers were Eboise Emmanuel, 38; Promise Ogiso, 23 and Ernest Arasomwan, 26.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The five accused persons are standing trial on a two-count charge of committing felony and assault.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

Meanwhile, there is a superior provision within that law which is that you can decline the patient for public good. In order to protect ourselves as an institution, we called in our lawyer who drafted for us a resolution, stating that we were not going to let Sawyer out because it will not be in the public good to let him out.”</blockquote><br /><blockquote class='tr_bq'><br /><p>“Because we did not let him go, Mr. Sawyer unleashed his bio terror on the staff of the hospital. He knew he had the disease, he was angry to the extent that he released his blood to contaminate our people as they came in. We lost four of our key staff who included, Dr. Adadevoh, she worked here for 21 years, Dr. Amos Abaniwo, our Chief consultant Anesthesiology and Director of clinical service, had been with us for 16 years. But the fan was seized by the officer in-charge of the prisons, who also allegedly ordered the inmate detained.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The inmate said he was the owner of the ceiling fan and only sent it out of the prison for repairs.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to this source, the inmate was later released after protests by his colleagues who felt he was being unjustly punished. But the situation was said to have degenerated beyond control, necessitating the intervention of soldiers at the prisons.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“By the time the inmate was released, the other prisoners had started throwing stones at windows and getting violent. The soldiers shot sporadically at the inmates as they ran into their cells, but many of them were hit,” our source said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />As of the time of filing this report, there was no confirmation on the actual number of prisoners killed but our source claimed to have seen the dead bodies of a number of inmates and some injured prisoners with bullet wounds being transported to the hospital within the prison.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />But the spokesperson for the Nigerian Prisons Service, Mr. Ope Fatinikun, told our correspondent on the phone that there was indeed a riot at the prison, which he claimed was not violent.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “No inmate was shot at, but 12 of them who sustained minor injuries have been given treatment.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“If anybody tells you he saw dead bodies of shot inmates, he should provide pictures. The police wanted to know how her lover died and how his body got to a roadside in the dead of the night.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ibrahim, who was never married, has two children with two other men. Sitting on the floor with agony etched on her face, Ibrahim narrated how her lover, who was married to another woman, died.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“He only came for sex in the mornings so that his wife would not suspect,” the fair complexioned woman said, as her face revealed that she would prefer not to relive the sordid details of the affair.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The late Deru and Ibrahim met six years ago in Odogbolu, the suspect told our correspondent.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“There was a day I was with him. We had sex but the wife caught us. So, I had to leave the town shortly after. I went to Lagos to work as an apprentice hairdresser,” she said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to Ibrahim, after her apprenticeship and a love affair in Lagos that resulted in a child, she was back in Odogbolu, where another love affair resulted in another child.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“None of the fathers of my children were good. They never took care of me or the children. I turned to the only person who has been really helpful to me. My lover (Deru) was a good man. He helped me anytime I called on him.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“When we reconnected after I got back from Lagos, we continued our love affair secretly because he was always there when I needed help.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Asked what sort of help Deru rendered, Ibrahim said he sometimes gave her foodstuffs or money for food, which she said was up to N1,000 on each occasion.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />So, she and Deru enjoyed a sexual experience that endured until their final encounter, which has put her in police net as a murder suspect.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />She said, “He came as usual on September 30 around 9am. I was on my way out of the house; I was going to work already that day. But he met me as I got out of the door and said he was visiting me.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I told him I could spare some hours before I left for work, so I went back inside with him. As soon as we got in, he stripped and I did the same. It was just one round of sex that we had and I don’t know why that could have killed him.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Our lovemaking was not even that long. He started complaining that he was not feeling fine. He said he was feeling tired and dizzy. Shortly after, he collapsed and stopped breathing.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />When Deru became unresponsive, Ibrahim said she became frightened.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Confused about what to do next, she dialled the telephone number of a male relation, explaining what had happened.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“My brother (the relation) told me to calm down, promising to come to my aid later that afternoon so that we could decide on what to do. But when I did not see him by evening, I realised he had run away and switched off his mobile telephone in fear,” she said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ibrahim had to turn to another acquaintance who eventually agreed to help her dispose of the body.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We thought if I reported to the police, I would be in serious trouble. I didn’t know I was making a terrible decision.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It was around 3am the following day when Ibrahim disposed of Deru’s body with the help of a commercial motorcycle rider living in her house.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The motorcyclist, Benjamin Friday, who tried his best to present his version of the events that led to his involvement in disposing of the body, said he had no idea that Deru was already dead.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“When they woke me up to help them carry a body, I was told it was her (Ibrahim’s) elderly relation. This was shocking because the terrorists were armed with weaponry which were grossly inferior to the firepower of the Nigerian Army Amoured tanks. After accomplishing the sabotage act, the Colonel and the junior officers and soldiers ran away into the bush, claiming that they were overpowered by a better armed group of Boko Haram terrorists,’’ Saturday Vanguard was told.<br/><br /><br/><br />Military sources said that the action of the Colonel and soldiers under his command had given vent to the disclosure by the top hierarchy of the military that there were so many fifth columnists in the military working against the country’s determination to flush out Boko Haram terrorists in the land.<br/><br /><br/><br />Consequently, Saturday Vanguard was told that a Board of Inquiry, BoI, had been set up by the Army authorities to investigate the Colonel and his soldiers after which a Military Court Martial would be set up to try them for conspiracy, treason and willful sabotage among others.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Also speaking on the development, a senior officer revealed, “You can now see why the Military Court Martial which is currently sitting is inevitable. The uninformed would feel that soldiers who are fighting the nation’s battle are being unjustly punished. But the truth is that many of them are sabotaging Nigeria and making the insurgents look formidable for reasons that cannot be explained. Some of them appear sympathetic to the insurgents.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“How can it be explained that several APCs that cost up to $1million each in some cases or more will be willfully destroyed by Commissioned Officers, COs, who swore to defend the territorial integrity of their nation, just to help terrorists? That is treason of the highest order.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The source added that the new vigour and determination with which Nigerian troops had been prosecuting the war, resulting in the killing of several commanders of the sect as well as hundreds of the insurgents, was the fallout of the new position of the military high command to deal with those pursuing a different agenda from that of the Federal Government.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh said last week that the death penalty imposed on the 12 soldiers who were tried for treason was lawful and in accordance with military dictates. I mean, six out of<br/><br /><br/><br />every 10 tourists come to Nigeria visit The SCOAN.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He described The SCOAN as a positive ‘brand’ for Nigeria. “The SCOAN<br/><br /><br/><br />is a big brand for Nigeria and a lot of revenues are generated by<br/><br /><br/><br />those involved in the tourism chain, especially members of ACHAN, who<br/><br /><br/><br />provide nothing less than 35 buses and equally a large number of small<br/><br /><br/><br />vehicles to move these visitors on a daily basis.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to the statement, Nigeria should encourage the ‘SCOAN brand’<br/><br /><br/><br />and not carry out malicious campaigns of calumny founded on<br/><br /><br/><br />unsubstantiated information about it.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We pray that this will not annoy the pastor and founder of the<br/><br /><br/><br />church, Prophet T.B.
