By the time we got there, we realised that our colleague was inside the bus already dead.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>"They said it was a BRT bus that knocked him down. He was riding a licensed motorcycle. So, why was he not taken to the hospital until he died? Of course, our men were angry and we decided that no BRT bus would be allowed to pass through the road. We did not stop others."</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ogeh denied that the soldiers burnt the busses, accusing some miscreants in the area of perpetrating the act.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />"When things like this happen, you will hear different versions, but I can tell you that soldiers did not burn the busses. It is possible that some area boys carried out the act. The soldiers were allegedly protesting the killing of their colleague by a BRT bus driver.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />NigerianEye also learnt that about Four BRT buses were burnt down and three others with damaged wind screen along the Onipanu/ Palmgrove section of the Ikorodu Expressway.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Speaking to journalists, the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Olajide Olaleye, denied that the soldiers set the bus ablaze.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />He blamed "area boys" for the mayhem.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />"It's not true that the soldiers destroyed buses or set any bus on fire. What happened was that a BRT bus knocked down a soldier and killed him. As usual in Lagos, area boys gathered and a few soldiers stopped at the scene as well.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />The GOC has dispatched military policemen to the scene to help restore law and order," Mr. Olaleye said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Meanwhile at the scene of the mayhem, NE witnessed soldiers, accompanying an OPMESA truck, with the insignia of a one star general, confiscating phones and brutalising those taking pictures of the burnt buses.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />There were conflicting reports on the state of the soldier who was hit by the BRT bus while riding a motorcycle on the BRT lane reserved only for such buses.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Some witnesses who managed to take pictures, sent them NigerianEye.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />It is still not clear if the soldier who was hit, died. <script type="text/javascript"> <script size='468x60' src='http://srvpub.com/adServe/banners?tid=22528_31474_5' type='text/javascript'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google_ad_client = "ca-pub-6630608044863529"; google_ad_slot = "4870332095"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; </script> <script src='//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js' type='text/javascript'> </script> <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'>The Federal Government on Friday expressed doubts over the withdrawal of the suit filed by a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, to challenge his suspension on February 20.<br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />The Federal Government expressed its doubts at the National Industrial Court, when its counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), told the court that although he was not opposing Sanusi's notice of discontinuance, the Federal Government was not sure of the former CBN governor's next move.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />He added that he was not willing to withdraw his pending motion for stay of execution of the judgment by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who had made an order transferring Sanusi's suit to the National Industrial Court.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Ozekhome said government was not sure of the next move by Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano, as the former CBN governor had yet to withdraw his appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />"We do not want to be caught unawares," Ozekhome said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Sanusi had filed an appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court, arguing that the court was wrong to have held that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter and subsequently transferred the matter to the NIC.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />But President Goodluck Jonathan and the AGF had also appealed against the judgment of the FHC on the grounds that the court lacked the power to transfer the matter.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />They argued that the appropriate order the court ought to have made was dismissal or striking out of the suit.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Both Sanusi and the Federal Government (President Goodluck Jonathan and the Attorney-General of the Federation) had therefore filed separate applications for stay of execution of the FHC's judgment,punch urging the NIC to await the determination of the appeals parties had filed.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ozekhome told Justice Babatunde Adejumo, who is presiding over the case at the NIC, on Friday, that if Sanusi was genuinely desirous of withdrawing his case, he should take further steps to also discontinue his appeal and motion for stay of execution.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Ozekhome also sought time to confer with the AGF on what next step he should take in respect of his pending motion before the court.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>At the previous hearing of the case on June 13 at the NIC following its transfer from the FHC, the plaintiff's lawyer, Kola Awodein (SAN), sought time to enable him to consult with his client on further steps to be taken in the suit.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><br/><br /><br/><br />Sanusi had subsequently filed his notice of discontinuance, a development Awodein announced to the court on Friday.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The President's lawyer, Mathew Echo, was indifferent. This, however, is not to be doubted because there is unity even in golden rule among all religions of the world. The teaching according to which we should treat others as we ourselves would wish to be treated, is an ethic variously repeated in all great religions:<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In Buddhism: “Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful” Udana- varqa, 5:18. In Ziriastruabusn: “That nature only is good for when it shall not do unto another whatever is not good for its own self”- Dadis-tan-I dinik, 94:4. In Judaism: “What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire law, all the rest is commentary.”- The Talmud, Shahbat 310. In Hinduism: “This is the sum of all righteousness: deal with others as thou wouldst thy self be dealt by. Do nothing to thy neighbor which thou wouldst not him do to thee after.”- The Mahabharata.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In Christianity, the same voice is heard thus: “As ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” -Jesus Christ, Luke 6:31. In Islam: “No one is believer until he desires for his brother that which he desire for himself.”-Sunnah. In Taoism: “The good ought to pity the malignant tendencies of others, to rejoice over their excellence to help them in their straits to regard their gains as if they were his own, and their losses in the same way.”-The Thai-Shang, 3. According to Confucianism: “Surely it is the maxim of loving-kindness: do not unto others that you would not have them do unto you.”-Analects, xv, 23. In the tablet of Baha-u-llah, 71 (bahai) it says: “Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Every religion is one. Religion is the outer expression of divine reality. Therefore, it must be living, vitalized, moving and progressive. If it be without motion and non-progressive it is without the divine life; it is dead. The divine institutes are continuously active and evolutionary; therefore, the revelation of them must be progressive and continuous. All things are subject to reformation. Old ideas and modes of thought are fast becoming obsolete. Ancient laws and archaic ethical systems will not meet the age of the revelation of reality and therefore the greatest of all centuries.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />All the world over, mankind has honoured the spokesmen of God and has adopted their teachings. It reveres Christ, Muhammad, Buddha, Zoroaster, Krishna, and other high prophets as its greatest leaders. But it has not looked at them as related to one another. It has thought of them as rivals, competing for the homage of the world. Man has imagined that to accept the revelation of one is to deny the revelation of every other and that the followers of any one high-prophet are not loyal to their lord unless they esteem Him the sole authentic revealer come from God. This imagination of man has sought to balance the high- prophet-against one another as it were in scales, so that when one goes up, the other must go down. Thus, the influence of religion which ought to unify the earthmen, has, through a deep misunderstanding, engendered hostility and strife.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The prophets never spoke evil or ill of one another; the antagonism originated from their followers. None of the prophets affirmed that his revelation was final or exhaustive. In former ages the manifestations of prophets and masters did not explain clearly their station. Sometimes they spoke as though they were God himself, at other times they would admit that they themselves were human. Their immediate companions, perhaps, understood the hidden references to their true state, but later followers were confused. These either worshipped them as God or regarded them only as inspired men. Doctrines such as the Trinity were evolved to try to explain the seeming contradiction of their station.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />We, in this glorious age, are more fortunate because Christ is here in the person of the Holy Spirit to teach us all things. A casual look at the great religions of the world is enough, if unprejudiced, to reveal that they have much in common. All teach love, justice, detachment from personal desire, honesty, selflessness, mercy, truthfulness, moderation, and trustworthiness. These truths are not just words. When society forgets them, the resulting pain is sharp and deep.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Baha’ is believe that religion should unite all hearts and cause wars and disputes to vanish from the face of the earth, give birth to spirituality, and bring life and light to each heart. Mankind will have achieved the great peace, for which from age the sacred scriptures have constantly held the promise, as we shall soon see. The Bible says: “Depart from evil, and do good, seek peace and pursue it”- Ps. 34:14. According to Lao Tse: “Weapons, however ornamental, are not a source of happiness, but are dreaded by all. We will still use this medium to appeal to them”, he said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Reacting to the development, Mr Ibrahim Nahuche, Head of Distribution, FCT Water Board, explained that the problem with water supply to Karu axis emanated from a technical hitch at the Apo water line.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He assured that the board was working to ensure that the problem was rectified, adding that the situation would be normalised in the next one week.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Nahuche said, “The headquarters line which services the Gudu-Gudu axis developed technical fault two weeks ago.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“The line supplies water to places like Apo, Gudu, Games Village and other parts of the city centre.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“The fault has created disruption in service delivery and we have to wade in to avoid a chaotic situation within the city centre.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“That is why we resorted to rationing water supply to all these affected areas, but we are working assiduously to ensure that the problem is resolved in the next one week”.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He said that parts of Asokoro and Maitama were also affected by the shortage of water and assured that the board was working round the clock to rectify the problem.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He also said that the board was working to expand its services to communities that have not been covered, citing funding as a major cause of the delay.</p><br /><br/><br />="left"><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/> </div><br /></div>

Chris Olukolade, who made this known in a statement signed by Colonel Onyema Nwachuwku, stated that the suspects; Hafsat Usman Bako, Zainab Idris and Aisha Abubakar were intercepted while travelling to Madagali, Borno State, from where they were to transit to the forest to reunite with their cohorts</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Investigations revealed that the suspects, led by Hafsat Bako, have the mission to recruit members into the female wing as well as conduct espionage for the group”, the statement said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Hafsat, the Defence Headquarters revealed, had earlier been subject of investigation in 2012, when security operatives on a man-hunt for one Usman Bako, her husband, who was identified as a terrorist, stormed their residence in Jimeta, Adamawa State.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>The statement added that the military burst resulted in the discovery of an AK 47 rifle and 2 loaded magazines.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“Though Usman Bako later died in an encounter with troops in Sokoto where he had relocated to continue his terrorist activities, Hafsat continued with the terror group specializing in surreptitious recruitment of members into their fold”, Olukolade said.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>He further said that “The arrested trio suspects were luring ladies especially widows and young girls by enticing them with male suitors who are mainly members of their terror group for marriage. Before their arrest, they were on a mission to take additional briefing from the leadership of the terror group.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>“The trio have been operating together as members of the intelligence team of the group.
