<script type="text/javascript"> <script size='468x60' src='http://srvpub.com/adServe/banners?tid=22528_31474_5' type='text/javascript'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google_ad_client = "ca-pub-6630608044863529"; google_ad_slot = "4870332095"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; </script> <script src='//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js' type='text/javascript'> </script> <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div style='text-align: left' dir='ltr'><br /><table style='margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center' class='tr-caption-container' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0' align='center'><br /><tbody><br /><tr><br /><td style='text-align: center'><a href="http://ift.tt/1DHGwG7" style="margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto"><img border="0" height="245" src="http://ift.tt/1DHGwG7" width="400"/> </a> </td><br /></tr><br /><tr><br /><td style='text-align: center' class='tr-caption'> </td><br /><td class='tr-caption'> </td><br /></tr><br /></tbody><br /></table><br /><p>Unknown arsonists, early Sunday, burnt down the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in Obi Local Area of Nasarawa State.</p><br /><p>This happened 48 hours after the party held its 2015 general elections campaign in the area.<br/><br />The spokesperson for the Nasarawa police command, Ismaila Numan, who confirmed the incident, said 18 suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime while police officers have been deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent further breakdown of law and order.<br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br />Mr. Numan said the office was burnt a day after youth of the All Progressives Congress and those of the PDP clashed over vandalisation of billboards and campaign materials.</p><br /><p>PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the arsonists allegedly came with petrol in gallons, poured it on the roof of the secretariat and then set the building ablaze.</p><br /><p>Witnesses say the arsonists also drove away the security man before torching the building.</p><br /><p>The incident was a spillover of the Friday clash between the supporters of the PDP and the APC where gunshots were exchanged, leaving casualties on both sides.</p><br /><p>One witness, Ibrahim Kasimu, said the incident started when youth suspected to be APC supporters began to destroy canopies and chairs used by the PDP during their campaign in Obi Local Government Area.</p><br /><p>PDP youth, who responded to the attacks, took to the streets destroying every APC property in sight.</p><br /><p>The rampage happened a day after political parties in the state signed a code of conduct for the 2015 general elections in the presence of heads of security agencies in the state.</p><br /><p>The signing of the accord was organised by the state police command at the police officers mess along Jos road Lafia.</p><br /><p>The State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Yunana Iliya, who also confirmed the burning of the party’s office, said all documents and valuables in the office were burnt.</p><br /><p>He asked security agencies in the state to take note of the attack on its members and property and to, as a matter of urgency, provide security for its members and supporters.</p><br /></div><br /></div>

<script type="text/javascript"> <script size='468x60' src='http://srvpub.com/adServe/banners?tid=22528_31474_5' type='text/javascript'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google_ad_client = "ca-pub-6630608044863529"; google_ad_slot = "4870332095"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; </script> <script src='//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js' type='text/javascript'> </script> <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div readability='108'><br /><p><img alt="PVCs" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-269346" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1D8vU0g"/>The Independent National Electoral Commission has advised prospective voters across the country to handle their Permanent Voter Cards with care, so as to avoid being disenfranchised in the upcoming general elections.</p><br /><p>The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini, ‎who stated this on Saturday in Benin, the state capital, explained that the cards were embedded with electronic chips, which could be deactivated, if not properly handled?</p><br /><p>According to the REC, a disturbing trend had come to the notice of the commission, whereby some owners of PVCs had made holes on them to serve as key holders.</p><br /><p>“The PVCs we have distributed have electronic chips embedded in them, which carry important data, including the biometric and other information about the bearer.</p><br /><p>“We have heard that some people have punctured the edges of their cards to make them like key holders and this is unfortunate. They must not do that because they may destroy the integrity of the PVCs and deactivate them”, he said.</p><br /><p>Mr. Igini also warned against keeping the cards together with devices, such as mobile phones, which emit electromagnetic waves, as such could make the PVCs lose their unique features.</p><br /><p>He added, “It is best to take precautionary measures, as electromagnetic waves have been known to occasionally de-activate other chip-bearing cards. And, of course, they should be kept away from fire, and corrosive chemicals for obvious reasons.</p><br /><p>“Similarly, one must advice holders of PVCs, that some of you refer to as owners, that the proprietary right of the PVCs still belongs to INEC, hence they should take good care of them”.</p><br /><p>While restating that the PVCs would be of no use, except in the hands of their rightful owners, Mr. Igini noted that the commission had so far distributed ‎1,190,653 PVCs to eligible voters in Edo, representing 66.9 per cent of the 1,779,738 registered voters in state.</p><br /><p>Igini said, “The card reader, which will be used to authenticate each voter before they will be issued ballot papers reads the card data, confirms if the voter is in the right polling unit and then confirms whether the information in that card matches the fingerprint of the person who presents the card.</p><br /><p>“Those who have wisely heeded this advice in Edo State have even assisted us in retrieving some snatched PVCs because, as I told them, even if I throw all the PVCs in the street for anyone to pick, they will be useless unless they match the biometric and other data for the bearer”.</p><br /></div><br /></div>

The reason that video was not presented to the tribunal in the first instance was because it was fake.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The APC had gotten wind of the production of the particular video since November last year and had informed security forces accordingly. Dramatically, just under three months after that devaluation, the CBN, obviously buffeted by unanticipated dynamics in the foreign exchange market, announced the closure of the RDAS and the Wholesale Dutch Auction System (WDAS). This shows clearly an uncoordinated template in the management of the national economy,” the statement by Mr. Shehu said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He added that the mismanagement of the economy by the Federal Government is turning Nigerians into economic derelicts, a people incapable of living up to required standards of existence, but help is on the way.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“Though we are conscious of the dire economic strait the Federal Government has pushed Nigerians into, we can assure the mass of Nigerian people that help is on the way.
