<p><strong>Vanguard reports that at least seven ladies who went for night vigil for deliverance in a new generation church, located at 2nd Cemetery Road, Benin-City, were raped by armed robbers.</strong></p>
<p>The robbers who stormed the church at about 4am were said to have earlier raided a building near Ewuotubu community where they robbed some tenants living in four different flats in the compound. It was learnt that two persons, including a police officer, were shot dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the process.</p>
<p>What was supposed to be an all-night marathon prayer session , tagged ‘Koboko Night’, meant to cast out demons tormenting some members of the church, turned sour as the masked armed robbers, numbering six, shot sporadically, ordering the members to go back to the church shortly after they said the final prayers to depart the church.</p>
<p>The robbers had, on storming the church premises, rained bullets on the roof and ordered members to lie down. Consequently, they raped the women.</p>
<p>One of the victims, who narrated her ordeal to Sunday Vanguard, said, <em>“Though I was not raped, I was beaten mercilessly when they were asking us to identify the pastor and we refused. After collecting our phones, money and jewelleries, they ordered some of the ladies to undress. They threatened to kill them if they refused and, of course, they removed their clothes and were raped one by one.</em></p>
<p><em>“It was actually two churches that they attacked. They raped five women in our church. Later, we found out that they raped two others in a church close to ours. They ransacked the church and collected any cash they found and escaped. It was a horrible sight”.</em></p>
<p>The raped women are said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital on Ekenwan Road, Benin City.</p>
<p>Meanwhile,a 50-year-old self-acclaimed pastor, John Ojebe, has been arrested and charged to court for allegedly duping a lady, Hawo Umoru, of the sum of N390,000 under the pretence of selling her Adonai oil to wash her private parts.</p>

According to him, how will it feel when Kashamu is finally asked to defend his drug charges case in the US. Wouldn’t it be an eyesore for a senator to be shuttling between a criminal court and the senate? He asked. Below is what he further explained on air;</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal"><span class="timelinecommenttext">“Legally, Kashamu could contest but this is a moral issue and I blame the PDP. The party seemed to have taken people for granted because they got away with it in 2003 when they presented a candidate from prison and the candidate won.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal"><span class="timelinecommenttext">“Now, if Kashamu gets convicted, what happens to his seat? If you miss a particular number of sittings either in the Senate or House of Representatives, your seat will automatically be declared vacant and a bye-election will be held to fill the position.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal"><span class="timelinecommenttext">“Now, Kashamu does not have immunity and they are asking for his extradition. The fact that he is a senator-elect does not stop his extradition. So, imagine the eyesore of a senator who is sitting in the chambers to make laws and then shuttling between a criminal court and the Senate. If he is eventually asked to be extradited, he will be taken away and the seat will be declared vacant and the party runs the risk of losing that seat.</span></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div readability='82'><br /><p><img alt="Lawal Ali" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-280991" height="224" src="http://ift.tt/1Oh8Nqi" width="400"/>The Nigerian Navy high command has disowned one Lawal Alli, who was allegedly involved in the hijack of a truck loaded with goods worth N20m.</p><br /><p>The Director, Naval Information, Commodore Kabiru Aliyu, said in a statement on Thursday that the suspect, who is presently in police detention, had never served in the Nigerian Navy.</p><br /><p>The suspect had claimed that he was a naval officer, who was conscripted into the navy in 2006 and dismissed in 2010 for abandoning his duty post.</p><br /><p>In its reaction, the Nigerian Navy pointed out that the suspect had told his interrogators he was not a naval officer, but actually got the naval uniform, with which he committed the crime, from the Merchant Navy.</p><br /><p>Aliyu noted that the navy had since handed over the suspect to the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos.</p><br /><p>He also said the Nigerian Navy decided to conduct investigation into the matter following reports in the media that a naval officer was involved in hijacking a truck carrying goods worth N20m.</p><br /><p>The statement said, “The Nigerian Navy wishes to disown a purported naval officer, one Lawal Alli, who was involved in the incidence of the hijack of a truck with goods worth N20m. After the story was published, the Naval Headquarters instituted an investigation into the incidence with a view to ascertaining the true status of the accused person.</p><br /><p>“During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused never served in the Nigerian Navy. Furthermore, the accused confessed that the naval uniform he was wearing at the time of the commission of the offence was obtained from the Merchant Navy. Evidently, the accused is an imposter who will face the full wrath of the law. He has since been handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Ikeja Lagos”.</p><br /><p>The director warned that the navy would arrest anybody caught using its uniform and ensure the prosecution of such offenders.</p><br /></div><br /></div>
