<p><img alt="POLICE-LOGO-300x1872" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-251304" height="187" src="http://ift.tt/1b3M5C8" width="300" />The police in Nasarawa State on Saturday confirmed the killing of one Yusuf Salihu, 28, by another man in an apparent tussle over a girlfriend in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.</p>
<p>Ismaila Umar-Noman, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia.</p>
<p>“We received information on April 22, that some youths in Akwanga mobilised themselves with cutlasses, knives, among others, to revenge the death of Yusuf Salihu who was allegedly stabbed to death by Alias Sadam on misunderstanding over a girlfriend.</p>
<p>“We quickly sent our officers to the area to investigate what was happening and on reaching there, our men discovered that one Mr. Yusuf Salihu was stabbed at his back with a knife by one Mr Alias Sadam and he died on the spot.</p>
<p>“The police have already commenced investigation in to the matter as the suspect is on the run.</p>
<p>“I want to assure the family and the members of the public that the police will do everything human possibly to bring the culprit to book”, he said.</p>
<p>Umar-Noman said that the police had since released the body of the decease to the family for burial.</p>
<p>He also said that normalcy had returned to the area and urged the public to always give vital information to the police in the interest of peace.</p>
<p>He warned youths against taking laws in to their hand and advised the public to report their grievances to the appropriate authority for necessary action rather than engaging in violence.</p>
<p>Also speaking, the uncle to the deceased, Mr Tanimu Haruna, also confirmed the incident and appealed to the police to apprehend the suspect.</p>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><img alt="Ada Joy Samuel whose lip was bitten off by her friend Chioma" class="size-full wp-image-233539 aligncenter" height="373" src="http://ift.tt/1xeE4Fx" width="400"/> </p><br /><div class='p1'>A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting her friend’s lower lip during a fight at Canal Extension, off Itanola Drive, Ajao Estate, Lagos.</div><br /><p><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/> </p><br /><div class='p1'>According to <a href="http://ift.tt/1MJF9Z8" target="_blank">PM newspaper</a>, the victim, Ada Joy Samuel, lost a part of her lower lip after she engaged Ejiofor Chioma in a street fight over allegation by Chioma that Ada was spreading gossip with her name.</div><br /><div class='p1'>Trouble started after Chioma, a mother of four whose husband had relocated to their village in Umuahia, Abia State, accused Ada of gossiping with her name to the neighbours.</div><br /><div class='p1'>This caused a disagreement between Chioma and Ada that eventually resulted in both fighting in public.</div><br /><div class='p1'>During the fight, Chioma allegedly grabbed Ada and bit off part of her lower lip which fell on the ground.</div><br /><div class='p1'>Ada started bleeding profusely and was rushed to a hospital, while Chioma was arrested and taken to the Police Station at Ajao Division and later charged to court with wounding under the Criminal Code.</div><br /><div class='p1'>When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Y. R. Pinheiro granted Chioma bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum..</div><br /><div class='p1'>The prosecutor, Inspector A. Abasss did not object to her bail but asked the court to take judicial notice of the seriousness of the injury sustained by Ada.</div><br /><div class='p1'>She was remanded in prison custody pending when she would meet the bail condition and the matter was adjourned.</div><br /></div>

She decided to visit Muazu that day.It was during the visit that the girl suddenly went missing and everybody started looking for her.<a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br />“But somebody said he sighted Abdulraman, a motorcyclist, taking her away. So, some women trailed the child to an uncompleted building where he lives. When they got there, they met him and he didn’t tell them where the child was.”</blockquote><br /><p>Punch Metro learnt that there was an exchange of words between the women and the suspect, and in the ensuing scuffle, the suspect kicked Muazu in the stomach.He was also said to have threatened to use cutlass to hack them if they moved closer.</p><br /><p>Our correspondent was told that Abdulraman dared the family to report to the police after which policemen from the Somolu Division were alerted.</p><br /><p>A police source told our correspondent that a case of assault was reported at the station.<br/> </p><br /><blockquote class='tr_bq'>“When we got there, we found the girl in one of the rooms, in a big bowl of water.<br/><br />“She could barely move and when she tried, she fell down. She began to cry. We didn’t suspect anything until we saw that her pants and clothes had been washed and hung on the line to dry. The suspect was also not putting on any clothes.”</blockquote><br /><p>The police were said to have taken the victim to the hospital where it was confirmed that there was penetration.Abdulraman was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on four counts of rape and assault.</p><br /><p>The suspect, who spoke through an interpreter to the court, confirmed that he assaulted Muazu and threatened to use cutlass on them.</p><br /><p>He, however, denied raping the victim.</p><br /><p>He said,<br/> </p><br /><blockquote class='tr_bq'>“I don’t know these people from anywhere. I had gone to their compound when someone said he needed to buy plywoods.Pat came near my okada and started playing with it, and those people said I should help them carry her, which I did.After they finished buying the plywoods, they said they could still not carry her, because they had a lot of load to carry. They asked me to help them.<br/><br />“It was while carrying her that she soiled her clothes and I decided to wash it for her. I never had sex with her.”</blockquote><br /><p>He added that he was forced to threaten the women with cutlass after they stoned him.The police prosecutor, Richard Odige, told the court that the offence was punishable under sections 267, 137, 170 and 56 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.</p><br /><p>His defence counsel, F.S. Osordi, applied for bail, for the defendant, asking the court to overlook Abdulraman’s guilty plea to charges of assault and threat to injure with cutlass.<br/> </p><br /><blockquote class='tr_bq'>“I am not really sure he understood what he was saying because he told me a different thing before this court sat. We apply that the court should order that count three be read to him again,” he added.</blockquote><br /></div><br /></div>
