Their sporadic shootings have disrupted the accreditation exercise in the area as INEC officials, voters and residents scamper for safety.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- PDP thugs are harassing and intimidating APC agents, and INEC officials are refusing to show result sheets to APC agents who demand such. There are fears that those results sheets may have been handed over to PDP.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- PDP agents storm Polling Units in Apapa Ward A Unit 009 with persons who who do not belong to the PUs and they were accredited<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- OPC thugs under police protection attacking voters and INEC officials all over Lagos.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- No Electoral Officers in PUs in Ogudu, a known APC stronghold.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- PDP Secretariat in Apapa (Lander Close) off Liverpool Road filled with OPC men from Ajegunle<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- Police in Iyana Ipaja arresting intending voters holding PVCs and locking them up in police stations, thus preventing their accreditation<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />- Electoral materials hijacked in many Polling Units in Ibeju Lekki. All the same, I give glory to God for being alive. I thank God for my safety”.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It is not clear if ransom was paid before he released.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ndiagbara (popularly called Freddie), works with the Government House Press Unit. He was kidnapped during ward rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kaani 1 (his community), in Khana Local Government Area of the State.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Freddy also acts as Government House official Master of Ceremony. He is a trained journalist and has worked in Tribune Newspaper. Aneke, Ifeanyi was said to have been found in unlawful possession of the illicit substance on July 14, last year.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to the NDLEA prosecutor, Mr. Vembe Emmanuel, the accused was apprehended during the inward clearance of an Emirate Airline from Dubai at the E-Arrival Hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The prosecutor said the accused had acted against the spirit and the letters of Section 11 (a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, 2004.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count brought against him in respect of the alleged crime.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He was subsequently admitted to bail by the judge.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />At the resumed trial on Wednesday, the prosecution, however, brought to court its first witness, one Mr. Mohammed Uthman, an operative of the NDLEA.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Uthman, in his testimony, said he got to know the accused in July last year when an exhibit officer at the Murtala International Airport handed over to him some substance suspected to be hard drugs for the purpose of testing.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I conducted a preliminary test on the substance, using the United Nations test kit. But the substance tested positive for cocaine,” Uthman said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The witness added that upon weighing, he found the substance to be 1.14 kilogrammes.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He went on to tender before the court various items allegedly recovered from the accused, including three international passports, one Emirate electronic ticket, one hotel voucher and one boarding pass.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The court subsequently admitted the tendered items as exhibits in evidence against the accused.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The matter was adjourned till March 25 for continuation of trial.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

We welcome you,” he said in a 28-minute speech, one of three videos posted by the Islamists on YouTube.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Troops from Nigeria have been backed by soldiers from Chad, Cameroon and Niger in recent weeks because of increased concerns about Boko Haram’s threat to regional security.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In the second of the latest videos, images of the leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, are shown along with archive footage and a voiceover recalling a battle between British colonial soldiers and fighters from the Sokoto Caliphate in northern Nigeria.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Shekau has namechecked al-Baghdadi before but appears to be positioning Boko Haram in a wider jihadi context by showing the Sokoto Caliphate, which was dismantled by the British in the early 20th century.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We never rose up to fight Africa. We rose up to fight the world,” he said.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“We are going to fight the world on the principle that whoever doesn’t obey Allah and the Prophet to either obey or die or become a slave.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />On Sunday, Boko Haram militants waged twin attacks in the town of Diffa in southeast Niger, opening a new front in its offensive after repeated attacks in Cameroon’s far northern region.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The six-year uprising has become a regional crisis and on Saturday, Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin agreed to muster 8,700 troops, police and civilians to fight the group.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />But Shekau dismissed the size of the force, which had previously been set at about 7,500.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“You send 7,000 troops? Why don’t you send 70 million? This is small. Only 7,000? By Allah, it is small. We can seize them one-by-one. We can seize them one-by-one,” he said in Arabic.<br/><br /><br/><br />Shekau also directly threatened Chad’s President Idriss Deby, whose forces have attacked Boko Haram in the northeast Nigerian towns of Gamboru and Malam Fatori in recent days.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Shekau’s challenge comes after the United States said on Friday that Boko Haram could face a stronger test against more capable regional forces.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Washington estimates that Boko Haram has a core of between 4,000 and 6,000 fighters but is well-equipped after raiding Nigerian Army positions.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

Muhammadu Buhari, have opposed the orders of a Federal High Court in Abuja, directing that they be served through substituted means‎ in a suit challenging Buhari’s eligibility to stand for the March 28 poll.</b><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Justice Adeniyi Ademola had, in two separate suits challenging Buhari’s eligibility to contest in the election, last week granted ex parte orders permitting the plaintiffs to serve the defendants in the suits through newspaper publications.<br/><br /><br/><br /><a id="more" name="more"> </a><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The court had also granted an order of abridgment of time within which the defendants must respond to the suits.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The plaintiffs in the separate suits are Chukwunweike Okafor and Max Ozoaka. They were represented in court by their lawyers on Monday.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Apart from Buhari and the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission is a defendant in the two suits.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />On Monday, Buhari and his party, through their lawyers, told the court that they would file applications challenging the competence of the suits and the entire steps taken in the suit so far, including the orders of service through substituted means.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Though, both Buhari and the APC had yet to file any papers in the suit, their lawyers – Chief Wole Olanipekun and Lateef Fagbemi – urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable them to file all the necessary documents.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Fagbemi also urged the court to ‎set aside the order of abridgment of time within which the defendants must file their responses, arguing that the granting of the order hinged on urgency, had already been diminished with the postponement of the poll from February 14 to March 28.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The judge then adjourned till February 23.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />There are at least three other suits ‎seeking an order directing INEC to disqualify Buhari from participating in the poll because he among other things, failed to attach evidence of his academic qualifications to the form he submitted to the electoral body.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />‎The plaintiffs are in their separate suits contending that the INEC FORM CF 001 submitted to INEC by the APC candidate submitted to INEC was incomplete and therefore urged the court to declare the form as incompetent.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />They further stated that the failure of Buhari to accompany the INEC Form with evidence of his educational qualifications and evidence of his birth certificate or affidavit of declaration of age had altogether rendered the form inchoate.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Ozoaka, in a supporting affidavit to the originating summons, stated that the INEC Form submitted by Buhari did not meet the requirements under sections 31(1)(2) & (3), and 31(8) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

Sensing the mood of the church, a middle-aged man simply identified as Baba Dominion was said to have taken a bold step and grabbed the ‘mad man’ from behind creating an opportunity for another to disarm him.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Pastor Akinsanya intervened at this moment, screaming; “Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord” and “Amen, Amen, Amen” interm-ittently obviously trying to calm down the congregation su-ggesting that the “mad man”, as it turned out an evangelical drama minister, was one of the special guests expected to minister at the service.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />It took quite a while for members of the church to settle down to listen to the ministration of the “mad man” who immediately capitalized on the confusion to begin preaching, saying “all sins are like mad men before God and just you all were running from me, so God Almighty will detest all sins including female who deliberately entice men via the exposition of their bodies, on the last day.”<br/><br /><br/><br />He stressed the need for all those who are called by the name of Jesus to be prepared at all times, for the trumpet might sound any moment, stressing that only those who are blameless will be raptured and will reign with the Lord.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />After the ministration, the outgoing pastor in charge of RCCG Place of Refuge Area, Pastor Kola Ajiboye who had come to introduce his replace-ment, Pastor Gbenga Adesan-ya to the congregation, prayed for the members and called on them to cooperate with his replacement, adding that it was imperative for him to go so that Elisha would begin his ministry.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>
