<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Leader of Niger-Delta Peoples Volunteers Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, on Tuesday slammed President Goodluck Jonathan over his comment that Nigeria would have boiled if a former Head of State Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) had died in the Kaduna blast.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He also exonerated himself from the allegation that he paid the alleged masterminds of the Kaduna blast N5m to carry out the attacks, saying people were out to tarnish his image.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />While describing the President’s comment as unnecessary, he stated that placing the life of one Nigerian above the over 80 persons who died in the incident was wrong.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I do not work for Jonathan. What the President said was wrong. The life of Buhari is not more important than 87 people that died in that blast. It is unfortunate that the President made such a statement. I wonder why the President will be promoting one person above other Nigerians. That statement from the President was very unfortunate. I do not have the capacity to tell the President to apologise, but I still insist that he should not have made such a statement,” Dokubo-Asari told journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He recalled that, “Soon after the blast, a cross-gender person came out and was arrested. Even the mother of the person arrested said he was insane. Social media reports said I gave them N5m to carry out the attack. These things are masterminded. The first one is against President Jonathan and the other one is against me.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“I did not pay anybody to carry out any assassination attempt on Buhari. I do not have anything against him. He is not a threat. He will fail in 2015. For the records, I do not operate a Twitter account and anyone saying I tweeted that there would be more attacks is only using my name.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Dokubo-Asari also raised the alarm that all the calculated attacks on him were geared towards shutting him up ahead of the 2015 presidential election.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “They want to silence me because they know the role I will play in 2015. They have also sponsored reports in Benin Republic that I am the person financing Boko Haram. Another Islamic scholar also said I am the one sponsoring Boko Haram to destroy the North on behalf of President Jonathan.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Dokubo-Asari also alleged that the late leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, funded Buhari’s elections in 2011.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “In March 2010, I was a guest of Maummar Gaddafi. He told me that Sule Armah and Buba Galadima were in Libya ahead of the 2011 elections. Gaddafi told me that he had been funding Buhari’s elections in the past. <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The Nigerian Army has lifted the ban it placed on vehicular movements in the troubled Borno State capital town, Maiduguri, to ward off the alleged planned attack by the Boko Haram insurgents.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />A ban was placed on vehicular movements on Sunday, and this inflicted hardship on the residents of the town, as they were forced to trek long distances.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />This forced many to stay indoors and caused churches to be empty on Sunday morning. Many markets were closed, with residents making do with their little stock.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />But a press statement on Tuesday, signed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Col. Muhammad Dole, said that the vehicles could start moving on the roads as from Wednesday (today).<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Dole said, “On behalf of the entire officers and soldiers of 7 Division Nigerian Army, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division, Brigadier Gen. Mohammed Ibrahim, wishes to congratulate the good people of Borno State on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the hitch-free Sallah celebrations in Maiduguri in particular and other parts of the state.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He said, “The ban on vehicular movement in Borno State is hereby lifted with effect from 7am on Wednesday, July 29, 2014.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Dole asked the members of the public to remain vigilant and alert and report “any suspicious objects, persons and movements to the security agencies.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, yesterday, said he would appear before the impeachment panel set up by the state House of Assembly, even as he described the panel as illegal.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The embattled governor had earlier condemned the House for embarking on what he described as “unconstitutional and grossly illegal” impeachment process aimed at ousting him from office.<br/><br /><br/><br />He said he would appear before the panel to clear himself of the allegations levelled against him.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He spoke at the Presidential Lodge when traditional rulers in the state and some of his permanent secretaries paid him Sallah homage.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />According to him, “I have made up my mind to appear before the panel of inquiry constituted in accordance with the constitution of Nigeria to clear myself of any allegation against me and to publish the outcome on any medium I will choose at the end.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Al-Makura had told his supporters during a solidarity rally at the Government House last week that the impeachment process was illegal, adding that the Assembly had not served him with any impeachment notice.<br/><br /><br/><br />However, the opposition PDP had earlier faulted the constitution of the panel, saying the wife of the panel’s Chairman, Yusuf Usman, was Al-Makura’s wife, Salamatu Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />Rev. <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://ift.tt/lH0Osb'><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Kano and Adamawa states as well as the kidnap of the Lamido of Kolofata in northern Cameroon, Lamido Seini Lamine, and the wife of the Vice Prime Minister of Cameroon.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President described as shocking, callous and reprehensible the multiple blasts that occurred in Kano within 24 hours, and the unrelenting attacks by the Boko Haram at a time the Muslim faithful were celebrating Eid-el-Fitri.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He commiserated with all those who lost their loved ones in the Kano and Adamawa attacks and wished the injured speedy recovery.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />The statement read in part, “President Jonathan further notes that the deployment of young women as suicide bombers represents a new low in the inhuman campaign by these terrorists and an expression of utter disregard for the dignity of the female gender as well as a wicked exploitation of the girl-child.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“The President states that the abduction of the Lamido of Kolofata and the wife of the Vice Premier of Cameroon clearly underscores the regional security threat that Boko Haram has become.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />“He welcomes the recent resolve by the Defence Ministers of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Benin and Niger to further strengthen the existing partnerships in order to forestall the desperate attempt by misguided elements to turn the sub-region into a battleground for terrorism and radical extremism.”<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />President Jonathan also urged the security forces to remain resolute, and not to be discouraged by the desperation of the agents of evil.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />He expressed the belief that with the continued cooperation between Nigeria’s security forces and their counterparts in the neighbouring countries, the war against terror would surely be won.<br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br /><br/><br />via nigerianeye</div><br /></div>

When he was eventually arrested by the EFCC, Muhammed claimed he ran into trouble after losing bank guarantee which he secured from another new generation bank.
