Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Badagry Unit, Mr Salisu Galadanchi, said the command would enforce traffic rules during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Galadanci said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry, Lagos State, on Thursday.
He said, “We have spoken to various heads of different communities to advise their subjects and children on the dangers of speeding.
“Fortunately, activities are usually not much during festive periods except for fun seekers, who come from Lagos to have fun at the Suntan beach.
“The command would deploy our men to various strategic places to monitor all situations and we are ready to handle any form of emergencies.”
The commander said the unit had sensitised commercial drivers at Seme on the importance of using the motor parks in the area.
“The major problem that we have at Seme is that the commercial drivers do not use the motor parks and this usually causes traffic.
“We have spoken to the union’s head and things have changed a bit and we hope that they will improve over time,” he said.
He advised motorists to desist from speeding and to always obey traffic rules and regulations.
