A Nigerian cab driver resident in the United States has been arrested after reports that he sexually assaulted a young girl.
51-year-old Nelson Egwu of Pflugerville in Austin, Texas forced the 17-year-old girl to perform a sex act on him after she couldn’t pay the fare for her trip.
The girl alleged that Egwu drove into a parking lot with her and made her pay for the trip in kind.
According to reports:
An arrest warrant indicates that he covered a camera in his cab during the Jan. 19 incident. The Austin American-Statesman reports he’s charged with sexual performance of a child.
The 17-year-old teen told police she had called the cab to take her to a friend’s house but later realized she didn’t have enough money for the fare. Egwu then allegedly drove to a parking lot where the assault occurred.
Egwu remained in the Williamson County jail Tuesday on a $60,000 bond. Online jail records did not indicate an attorney for him.
